Herd Ranks
RANKS
In Helovia, there are six different classes of rank available for each established region: Govern, Mend, Fortify, Create, Sneak and Begin. Each class of rank has an ability or choice of ability that stays with the rank and is automatically granted to any character with such a rank. These rank abilities do not affect a character's personal magic slots. Ranks can be reorganized, altered, added or removed at the discretion of a leader, but all ranks fit into one of the six classes regardless. Keep in mind that outcasts, while independent, do not recieve the benefits of classranks like those who choose to be a part of a herd.

Most herdlands have a system of leadership that involves a Lead Stallion and a Lead mare, but occasionally a leader will adopt a different government. However, these are the standards. A herd can only have three leaders, maximum.

In the event that a leader dies or their player becomes inactive (non-posting for a month), the herd can vote OOCly to replace the leader. Leadership can also be forcibly taken by invasion or challenge. Typically each of the leads represents a different faction of the herd. One will lead in military forces while the other is more concerned with diplomacy. Which character and which position is not gender dependent. The leads of a herd are in charge of organizing the herd's rules, alliances and duties for its ranks and members. Each lead is able to choose one rank-given ability bestowed upon them by the gods that is relevant to their choice of leadership style. They may choose from the list below, or design their own rank ability with admin approval.

Abilities
Militant
Battle Cry: Can utter a confidence-shattering cry once during battle that will shake an opponent's resolve and increase the chance/strength of one of your attacks.
War Stomp: A single stomp of the hoof can lightly rattle the ground and throw an opponent off balance.
Warrior's Spirit: The spirit of the warrior within can dull the pain from an attack or decrease the chance of an attack hitting.
Diplomatic
Clear Mind: Able to calm the tensions around a situation in any given thread, except in battle.
Gilded Tongue: Able to craft a lie that is believable in any given thread, except in battle.
Chameleon: Able to turn invisible, except in battle. This character can observe any thread and post, with permission, without being noticed by the other characters.

Those with an interest in the more peaceful side of life and tending to the needs of others above their own desires.
[Healer]
Only three healers can live in each herd and are appointed by the gods (admin) who bestow upon them healing magic. Applications with herd leader input are used to choose the MEND rank character. Each herd has their own type of healing magic individual to the god that sponsors/favors that particular land. The healing magic given with the rank ability cannot be used in battle.

Dragon's Throat: "Sun Physician"
Sponsored by the Sun God, the Physician of the Dragon's Throat can heal others by breathing a flame that is white in color and very hot on their wounds. During an invasion, the Sun Physician can heal only five members of the herd and during Frostfall can only heal three members of the herd.
World's Edge: "Moon Doctor"
Sponsored by the Moon God, the Doctor of World's End can heal others by bathing their wounds with a torrent of windy darkness. During an invasion, the Moon Doctor can only heal five members of the herd, and during Birdsong can only heal three members of the herd.
Foothills: "Earth Medic"
Sponsored by the Earth God, the Medic of the Windtossed Foothills can heal others by wrapped their wounds with muddy vines summoned from the earth. During an invasion, the Earth Medic can only heal five members, and during Orangemoon can only heal three members of the herd.
Aurora Basin: "Time Mender"
Sponsored by the Time God, the Regenerator of the Aurora Basin can heal others by resetting the timeline of their body. During an invasion, the Time Regenerator can only heal five members of the herd, and during Tallsun can only heal three members of the herd.

Those with an interest in the more forceful side of life, relying upon strength and combat to settle problems and forge solutions.
[Warrior]
Warriors are to defend the borders of their herd and answer any challenges or invasions to the herd. The herd lead may choose a leader of the warriors as desired. Up to 5 warriors can choose one of three rank abilities, with herd leader approval.

:: WISE ONE :: [1]

Those with an interest in crafting or entertaining, preferring to alleviate heavy hearts with song, dance, tale or gift.

In charge of the herd's lore and history, as well as much of the land's. Will often tell tales of myths and legends about the gods or past leaders. Many take care of the foals and are personal advisors to the leaders. An admin controls the response to the Wise Ones' requests of knowledge. Each herd only has one Wise One appointed by application with admin choice and herd leader input.

Dragon's Throat: "Diviner"
The Diviner of the Dragon's Throat is able to catch glimpes of the future through images that appear in fires. Distant from the oasis, a fire is always burning, tended to by the Diviner which can be visited in hopes the the Sun God will bestow knowledge.
World's Edge: "Seer"
The Seer of World's End is able to see visions of the future during the night time hours. In the mists that pervade the land, images of events to come will appear, surrounding the Seer. During misty evenings, the Seer can request the Moon God to send snipits of the future.
Foothills: "Storyteller"
The Storyteller of the Foothills is able to catch visions of the future in a secret pool in the shadow of a mountain. The pool is rimmed with precious gems and is guarded by the Storyteller. Only when the waters are clear during the day can a request be made to the Earth God to show the future.
Aurora Basin: "Haruspex"
TheHaruspex of the Aurora Basin is able to see multiple realities and time streams through the secret mirror in the back of a cave. The mirror does not reflect the user's image and is constantly shifting with mystery. Only during the night can the Haruspex as for the Time God's wisdom.

:: CREATE :: [2]

There are only two crafters per herd that is ordained with magic by the Gods by application by admins with herd leader input, but other characters with crafting magic can immediately gain the rank of Crafter. A crafter can create 3 small items (chains, beads, etc), 2 medium items (pieces of armor, boxes, etc), or 1 large item (armor, gate, etc) per season until a new system is implemented.

Dragon's Throat: Forger
The God of the Sun bestows upon a crafting character of the Dragon's Throat the ability to wrought metal into various shapes by using the Seer's fire. They are immune to the lick of flames and cannot be burned, and they use a type of telekenesis to form the metal into shapes.
World's Edge: Glazier
The God of the Moon bestows upon a crafting character of the World's Edge the ability to mold from shadows and starlit waters the substance of glass. Transparent and reflective, glass shines like the moon above and can be made to have smooth or sharp edges, to shatter or withstand.
Foothills: Mason
The God of the Earth bestows upon a crafting character of the Foothills the ability to cut and manipulate rock. This ability can be used to make walls and structures, jewelry and scultures.
Aurora Basin: Weaver
The God of the Spark bestows upon a crafting character of the Aurora Basin the ability to weave and create textiles. The ability can be used to make blankets, tents, rope and other useful, fiber-based creations.

Those with an interest in working where few eyes see, remaining unknown and undetected to accomplish tasks.
[Shadow]
Shadows are in charge of watching the stealth board to protect members of the herd from being stolen. They are chosen by herd leaders and granted rank magic by the gods. They are encouraged to steal members from other herds if it doesn't interfere with a herd's law, alliances, or is otherwise ordered by the leads. Each shadow can choose one of the three rank abilities.

Chameleon: Able to turn invisible, except in battle. This character can observe any thread and post, with permission, without being noticed by the other characters.
Stealth Block: Gains an additional guess on the stealth board, useable once a month and only one use per stealth (per herd). First come first serve.
Lie Detect: Can tell if a character is lying. Must be used with the other character's consent and can only be used once per thread.

:: BEGIN ::

The beginning ranks of Helovia.
Rank: Mare, Stallion, Filly, Colt, Unclaimed, Outcast
Ability: None, to promote growth into other classes.
-- Mare, Stallion, Filly, Colt: the rank all new members of a herd start with.
-- Unclaimed: the rank all new characters of the site start with.
-- Outcast: the rank any character not in a herd holds.

:: ADMIN ::

Admin rank is held by staff members, or special characters played by the staff, such as the Official account, the Sun, Moon and Earth gods, and the Random Event.
-- Official: Threads made by this account are announcements, news, updates or otherwise important information coming from the admin team. This account will also be used to judge fights. Avoid trying to reach an admin on this account, as it isn't logged into unless needed.
-- Gods: The three gods will mainly post in response to pleas at the Veins of the Gods, however they may randomly appear throughout Helovia bestowing magic or otherwise.
-- Random Event: An account that may appear at any given time in any thread, causing both good, neutral and bad occurrences. The effects left by this account must be followed, but it will never badly injure or kill your character without consent, and any negative effects have a time limit.
