"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

This was certainly different from the desert home that I was growing accustomed to, and entirely opposite of the underground kingdom known as Urd that I had lived in almost my entire life. Now that I was comfortable in saying that I was a welcomed member of the Dragon's Throat, I was taking my time in exploring the other lands around Helovia. For days I had let the strong wind currents carry me northbound, resting periodically when darkness began to fall. Dusk had fallen across the cold territory not long ago, drawing me towards the earth to rest my tired wings. The cold wind snapped at my skin, and I found myself unexpectedly grateful for my naturally high body temperature. As I crunched through the snow tops, golden orbs watched the fiery light from my burning scales dance off of the icy terrain. Movement from above caught my attention, and as I looked up to take in the sight of the Northen Lights for the first time in all my life, I stood in awe and wonder.
While the colors of light painted the sky in a range of blues, greens and violets, I found myself pondering over those from the Rift and Urd. It seemed that everyone had dispersed without a second thought, vanishing into the wood work as if the monstrous battles we fought had never happened. I certainly knew they had, however. I bore the scars, breathed the fire of the Sun God, and lived with the memories of those I had left behind...I couldn't help but think back to those that I cared about, the mares that I tried to help escape from a life of slavery, the lost souls that I had destroyed when Urd crumbled into nothing because of me. While I was pleased to know that Evaneska had made it to safety, but I had not seen her since the last battle when others came to aid her. All I could do was hope that she continued to live happily, somewhere lost in this massive world. Somewhere, in Helovia.
I don't know why I was even there. Seriously, I hated the cold. I hated the snow. I hated being cold and yet I found myself too far up north for my own comfort. The only thing that was even on my mind was figuring out how to get back to the Throat so I could get warm, but I didn't know which way to go. There was snow and ice in every direction I looked and the snow was deep enough to make it difficult to get moving fast enough to get airborne. Honestly, I could have kicked my own ass for going that far north when I knew how close it was to being Frostfall. I had learned last year just how dangerous the snow could be and I'd subjected myself to it again. I was either dumb or a glutton for punishment.
Eventually I just picked a direction and started walking and hoped that I would end up somewhere warm or at least a place that wasn't covered in snow. I think it was pure dumb luck that the direction I picked led me straight to Thantos, but either way I was relieved. "Thantos!" I yelled his name and hoped that he would hear me and stop so I could catch up with him. I fought against the snow, struggled to get my legs moving fast enough. The only thing I could really think about was getting to Thantos becuase he was warm. I mean .. he breathed fire so he had to be warm.
When I finally made it to him I pressed myself into his side, not caring whether or not I was invading his personal space. I was cold and he was arm and that was all that really mattered to me right at that moment.

THANTOS
The silence of the night, my peaceful moment of watching the colors of the sky, was suddenly broken by the distant call of a familiar voice. So lost in my own memories, I had barely even registered that the voice was actually yelling out my own name. By the time I could pull myself away from my thoughts long enough to process who it was that had called for me, Ranjiri had managed to shove herself underneath my wing and press herself against my body. With great surprise, my crown jerked back at the sudden closeness of the beautiful mare. "OH! Er, hello...Ranjiri?" I chuckled, lifting up my wing that she had chosen to use as a blanket to peek down at her. "Cold?" A rare smirk pulled at my lips, chuckling slightly at my smart ass question that didn't really need an answer.
I stepped away slightly, growing uncomfortable with the mare's proximity that was typically reserved for more intimate relationships. While my barrel was no longer touching her own, I kept my wing outstretched over her, shielding her from the harsh winds that intensified the cold. "What are you doing out here? You should be home." My matter-of-fact tone returned, slit pupils eyeing her with a raised brow. Not that my questioning would do her any good now. It was already late into the evening, as the night grew on the temperatures would only drop even lower before I would even have the chance to escort her to a warmer land. Traveling would more than likely have to wait until the morning...
Quickly my gaze pulled away from her, desperate to seek out anything that wasn't covered in snow, hoping that I could find even a solitary branch to ignite with my flames to warm her. The thick layer of snow betrayed me, leaving me with nothing but my own body to keep the mare from turning into a ice sculpture overnight. Slowly, cautiously even, I tightened my wing around her and twisted my tail around to provide more coverage for her. "You're foolish, Ranjiri." The words, as insulting as it may have come off, were well meant.
