"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

for @[Voodoo] but if there's someone on patrol that would check out the mysterious visitor they have my permission to pop in for a bit! || pre-invasion, end of Tallsun (sorry Nev, couldn't wait! <3)
It was with some reluctance that Hemlock agreed to accompany Alysanne to the Throat - he wondered if a visit with Voodoo would cheer her up. As much as he wasn’t overly fond of the black and red unicorn, he was a good deal better than that Miykael fellow she had been hanging around more often. The fabricated life she had been building around herself was beginning to wear on the Doctor - she was spending as little time in the Edge as possible now, even skirting her responsibilities. She’d have to talk to Kaj about that, maybe when she returned. Perhaps she wasn’t meant to be a Moon Doctor.
There was a part of her, and it wasn’t small, that wished that she could just not return to the Edge at all. Not deal with anything that waited for her there.
That wasn’t how she was going to solve her problems and, of course, as soon as she thought that she would think of exceptions. She couldn’t leave her daughter, her son, Kahlua, or Brisa. Even Resplendence had grown on her, though she had been doing significantly better since Quilyan’s return. Hardly needed to be checked in on any more!
They spent the trip mostly in silence, Hemlock occasionally trying to tell a joke to cheer her up, but after leaving her home she felt a little lighter - which in turn enhanced the guilt. She was not entirely sure what she was looking for on this trip, perhaps some explanation to the quickening of her heart whenever she thought about the quiet stallion she wanted to visit.
The sun was setting as she arrived - she hoped that their previous encounters were an indication that Voodoo was usually out and about at this time of day and into the night. She had never been here before, the last time she tried to make the trip to visit her friend they had found each other near the Heart instead, and was surprised to find out that the Throat was an island, completely severed from the rest of Helovia. How did Voodoo and the others without wings get to their home? Green eyes scanned the beach for a bridge or a clue but found nothing.
And now she had the dilemma of being unsure of what to do next. Flying to the Throat seemed rude, being without permission to actually enter so she lingered at the edge of the water. Undoubtedly, someone would be on patrol - there was always someone on patrol around the herd lands she had seen. So she lingered where the ocean met the hard sand, Hemlock perched atop her head, and decided it couldn’t hurt to wait a couple moments. Maybe someone would spot her and be able to help her out!

The sun was setting and burning the sky with familiar calming colors that began to reappear earlier each day while, in exchange, the nights became longer. A desire for Orangemoon's return ached in the bond you share with the fox; neither of you wanted the sweet summer nights to end, yet your infatuation for the chilly season grew stronger by the year. Ouija trotted eagerly along your left side, keeping pace while you wandered the edge of the island, ears flipping back and forth above your empty eyes while you took one last lap before the moon filled the sky. Ouija yipped behind you, her black padded toes dancing on the hard sand while she tried to direct your attention to a familiar figure in the distance.
Your jaws tightened, glossy eyes briefly casting down on the cub just before you could adjust and face the woman in the distance. Large maroon nostrils flared, the dry air and salty ocean water diluting the earthy fragrance that floated off of the woman you've grown to know over the years. We whisper her name, but you keep us barred back in our cage while your still young hormones pump through your veins; Alysanne. Needless to say, a bright smile spreads across your thin lips before a throaty nicker can fill the air, bicolored ears snapped forward while you called out to her.
Unattractive feet shuffle underneath you, the fox staying put while you prepare to be wrapped in fiery wings. Your steps stutter, narrow chest heaving before the uncomfortable twist in your stomach begins; this will only have been the third time you've used the magic bridge. Yellowed teeth grit between strong jaws and you step forward, the key dangling on your chest glinting in the remaining sunlight before wings of fire ignite on either side of your slender shoulders. Immediately they carry you, the awkward lack of control making it hard for you to breath and even harder for your muscles to know just what to do. Your legs pump in the air, empty, dry frogs scooping frantically to gain more ground but staying at the same steady pace. It feels like ten minutes before you finally reach the edge even though it only took a matter of a few seconds, and the false appendages flap once more before fizzling into small sparks that disappear without a trace of smoke.
An embarrassed laugh rattles your throat. "H-hey Aly. Hemlock." Rummy snout reaches out toward her own gently, cloudy eyes watching the dancing emeralds as you try to meet her touch. Maybe it was faith that always brought the two of you together, but we know that it is more likely some bizarre coincidence. Regardless of why or how, you want to melt as soon as you're with the painted goddess. All the while, you try to avoid direct eye contact with the owl, a strange fear streaking through your limbs like a teen boy's first meet and greet with the girlfriend's father and his loaded shotgun that sat conveniently in the corner of the room.
"Voodoo." 'Ouija.''Voices.'

Holy long wait. ;-;
The nicker, faint but noticeable, crossed the distance between them and shivers ran down her spine. Hemlock shifted uncomfortably at the rush of thoughts inside her mind but otherwise made no other comment. Play nice was the warning that Alysanne gave to Hemlock as she looked at the ocean that separated her from Voodoo, confused. How was he going to get over? She could swim across… but before she could take more than another step a flash of light across the water caught her attention. It took her a couple moments to fully realize just what she was seeing - and not until he had drawn closer did she believe it. Voodoo was coming - but he was being aided by some beautiful wings of fire! He was gliding right through the air toward her! Her amazement and shock rivalled her joy when he landed. It was incredible, that rush of emotions that she felt when her eyes land on him and again when she heard his small laugh. “Hi Voodoo.” His name comes out as a warm breath, a sweet exhale as she touched his muzzle with her own.
Hemlock, despite his promise to make nice, didn’t want to stick around for this. What he wanted to do was scratch out those red eyes and chase him away from Alysanne. He didn’t trust Voodoo but if Alysanne made it through the trip without crying it would be worth it. For now though, he knew she wanted to get closer so he took over with a disgruntled hoot, circling up and away - to hunt desert mice, maybe.
There was guilt, of course, and the tears did threaten to come out but this was real for her. Everything else was just put on hold and she knew, she knew so well, that it would come rushing in at her later when she wasn’t prepared. She could only ignore the flood for so long before she was drowning once more. But for now she was happy to just stand here with him - happy for the chance to figure out just what it was she felt for the black and red stallion. It was so timid, so different, than anything she had felt before.
But that small touch wasn’t enough for her so she moved closer - slowly, carefully, alert for any tensing - before pressing her cheek against his neck, before running her muzzle along the muscles there. She let her eyes look at the rest - lingering on the withers that were untouched by the fiery wings she had seen moments ago. Had they been magic? Was it something he had always been able to do? “I didn’t know you could fly!” She pulled back as she asked, green eyes searching his.
