Having woken for the third time that night alone and in pain the filly had finally had enough of trying to sleep. Stretching out her front legs painfully she cringed as she could feel the gravel chunks still biting into the flesh from where it had lodged itself a day or two prior. Mama had always helped her when she had hurt herself so she really didn't know what to do when it came to first aid or dealing with cuts and infections. Ever since her first day here in this place Temby called the Edge she had suffered through the pains in her legs from the torturous journey they took through that storm. The mud had been deep and at her age her balance was only so good that it had been a long tiring process. When she had finally managed to lay herself down it had been next to the kind white mare Elsa and her other friend Temby.
Three whole days had gone by now and despite knowing that her mother was never coming back she couldn't help but still hold onto the last shreds of hope. Temby had somehow managed to find her something to eat but it wasn't as good as having mother there with her to hold and comfort her. Plus with the other baby nobody had time for her to stick around with all of them anyway. Was she jealous? Maybe just a little bit considering she had never had to share her food with someone else before. It was just strange and uncomfortable plus she really didn't know who Anzanine was to begin with. Hobbling to her feet the filly wandered until she came to one of the campfires to get warm. Choosing to stand rather than lay back down she groaned pitifully feeling very sorry for herself. From her point of view her knees looked more like red ugly round things with speckles instead of her normal silvery brown colour.
Growing tired the filly swayed on her feet a couple times before finally giving in and lowering herself to the ground. Trying to curl herself into a ball to keep warm she pulled her tail tightly around her to let her charm lay in from of her muzzle. It was all that she had left of mother now but she still didn't know how to move forward when her heart was still with her mother.

Fiddling with the charm presented before her she was careful not to stab herself with the sharp points like she had many times before. Having once been her mothers the charm was very precious to the girl now that her mother was no longer with her. What had mother called it again? A heirloom? When she had first heard the word she had thought about how much it sounded like a mushroom type of thing but mother had explained that one to her. It was not a mushroom but rather a heirloom that was a tresure that was passed down through the family. She wasn't sure if someone had had it before mother but she didn't really care for the fine details, all she knew was that it was hers.
Dozing off into a very light sleep with the crackling fire at her back the filly woke a short time later to a soft voice before her. Really she was too tired to react much to the mare who lay there staring at her but she did lift her head cautiously to regard her curiously. To start off she was much bigger than she was, but then again most people were bigger than she was. Her coat was painted just like hers only with different colours and she had wings just like Elsa did. Could she trust her? Her words seemed kind and her face did to but was that enough?
“Where’s your mom?” The question felt like a kick in her gut as yet again the question ripped up all the memories she had swept aside in order to manage a little sleep. While she didn't want Temby to be right about her mother never coming back to her, her gut told her that it was true. Somehow that piece of her that had felt so close had shattered into pieces leaving her with the memories of what had been. She really didn't know why mother would never come back to her but she guessed that it was something bad to keep her away forever. "I don't know..." She said after a couple minutes finally deciding she could trust the mare. "She never came back."
Tears filled the girl's eyes despite her attempts to hold them back. Elsa had told her that she needed to be brave but how could she be brave when it hurt so much? She didn't know how to live without her mother by her side, hell she didn't even know how to find food. Her knees hurt but the rest of her body just felt like it was in a state of numbness. "She isn't coming back...Temby said so." She added sadly trying to hide her face and her tears. She wasn't sure that the painted mare would know who Temby was but she couldn't pronounce his actual name so it would have to do.

Movement from the painted mare drew little response from the young filly for she was too tired to fight anymore, to tired to feel anything but the cold stabbing sensation that rocked her body. It was as if the world had somehow ended but carried on around her like she was stuck in some alternate reality. Perking her ears as the mare continue to speak she once again felt that sliver of hope that Elsa had tried to instill in her earlier on that afternoon. Could she really hope for such a thing when Temby had told her otherwise? All the different opinions and thoughts confused the poor girl to no end but somehow she managed to keep her head above the waters.
As the expectant eyes scoured her body the filly couldn't help but feel a little too exposed for her liking. Shifting in the attempt to get into a more comfortable position she curled into a tighter ball to try and get warmer. " You know where she is?" She asked warily as she tried to process the thought that her mother may still be out there. "But why can't we go now?"
Impatience touched into the girl's conscious pushing away some of the fatigue that threatened to drown out her conversation. It was amazing how one could get so tired but still have the hope of an idea wake them up again so quickly. As the subject changed drawing her attention back down to her painful knees. Rolling to the side ever so slightly she managed to stretch her front legs out before her to get a better look at them. "I don't no how... Mama always helped my cuts but she not here." She said softly with a sigh.

Scowling at the typical answer that everyone had been giving her about her mother she couldn't help but sigh. All she had wanted was to find her mamma so that she could go home away from all these crazy people. She would give anything to be curled against her mother sound asleep in their cave right about now. Why couldn't things just go back to normal so she didn't feel like crying each minute of the day? Was that so hard to ask? Flicking an ear to the new mare as she once again spoke to give an excuse as to why they couldn't go find her mother now, she was at least a little more hopeful when she said it was because she was hurt. If it hadn't been for the mud and exhaustion maybe she would have been able to be stronger and not hurt herself. Maybe mama had left her behind because she was weak... The saddening thought nagged at her mind yet again but she tried to push it away, but what if it was right?
Shaking off the sadness the best she could she watched closely as Aly stretched out her wing and invited her to come get warm. Wary at first she hesitated remembering all mother had told her about strangers, but Aly had been so nice to her. She had trusted Elsa and that had turned out alright, maybe she could trust Aly too. Pulling herself shakily to her feet she limped over to tuck herself down beside the painted mare. Shivering against the cold she was thankful for the warmth and the cozy feathers. As for the magic though that was all a little scary. "O..okay.." She replied not really sure about the whole magic ordeal after how her last encounter with it had gone.
Watching nervously as the swirling dark misty things got closer and closer she flicked her ears back but tried to stay still. Maybe this wouldn't harm her, Aly had said it was supposed to help her right... Movement before her caught her eye as a small little birdy landed on the ground. Forgetting all about the mists for the moment she watched the owl with fascination. Never before had she seen a birdy this close before, most always ran away from her when she had tried to approach them. "Why don't he run away like rest of em?" She asked completely awed by the colourful little feathers and by how the birdy moved.
