"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

AFRICA
Diviner for Dragon's Throat
As night’s shadow swept with blanketing arms through the vast desert realm, the flickering light of the Diviner’s Fire was aglow, just beyond the oasis; burning infinitely, though for a long while its holy flame had been neglected. Slow, unsure steps led Africa towards the unfamiliar, though sacred ground. She had not visited any of the Diviners before her, nor had she truly understood the purpose of such a title in the herd. With a new, ambitious perspective however she approached the dancing firelight, feeling immediately the radiating warmth from its core. Perhaps she was not the epitome of what the role stood for, but she was more than determined to grow into it.
Quietly she watched it for a little while, standing apart from it to reflect and consider all that had been told in the meeting a few evenings before. Many names had been installed throughout the Throat’s higher ranks; Onni and herself, had been generously rewarded by the Sun God himself and wore now a beautiful chain each, adorned with a Sun Amulet.
The words and events which had come to pass spun through her mind wildly, though she felt a strange ease there, as she waited by the fire. With the gift, had been bestowed the title of Oracle, and it was for that reason she had come- to seek counsel (she hoped boldly), with he whose blessing had been given to her.
In many ways Africa felt foolish for aspiring to fulfil this role; she understood very little about the Gods, magic and such mystical entities. But she trusted the Sun God wholly, not doubting for a second the decision he had made to favour her amongst those of her peers which has also strived to serve him. Tentatively, she dropped the Sun Amulet which had been tightly clenched between her teeth- a gesture to show that she was grateful perhaps; that she valued her gift. It dropped heavily, though was caught by the golden chain which secured it safely against the flesh of her breast.
Closer she shuffled to the blazing firelight, nervously so (instinct cautioned her approach, just like her visits near to the heart of Helovia). But she lifted her face bravely to gaze into its burning pulse and appealed to the Sun God, if he should be there; if that’s how this worked. "Sun God? It’s Africa. I’ve come to thank you." Indeed she was grateful for his favour, but she wasn’t so confident that the responsibilities therein would be straight forward. What she did know, and earnestly so, was that she would strive to meet the expectations of her kin, to fulfil their spiritual needs as Oracle- and serve the Sun God passionately, whose land they lived within.
Right now, she just wasn’t sure how to begin this bold new endeavour.
For a moment the blaze burned with a bright white-hot light, and yet the heat from the flames seemed to bleed away, leaving only a warm rush of air, as oxygen was ushered towards the center of the fire. As the flare faded away, a shape seemed to materialize within the flames. Long golden legs were suddenly formed out of ebbs of golden fire - which raced upwards somehow solidifying the elegant frame and magnificent wings of the God. His graceful and horned head was the last to form, and yet his eyes were still a blinding white. That pupil-less gaze turned to fall upon the new oracle, with an almost terrifying silence. After a moment, the God stepped out of the fire, and a warm golden light burned away the white of his gaze.
"Ah. My new Oracle." he murmured, almost skeptically. As his hooves moved his body out of the flames and onto the sand, he towered above her, regal head held high. "Africa, isn't it?"
He sniffed slightly, brilliant gaze falling over her body. As he came upon her wingless side, his muzzle drooped into a disapproving frown. Wrinkling his nose, his pronged skull lowered slightly, as if to get a better look. Again, wincing with disdain, he immediately pulled his head back, brows raised slightly. In his mind he remembered the mare who had given up her life, and her wings, for that rotting sack of flesh. His teeth clamped together with an audible click, causing the muscles in his jaw to tense.
"An Oracle with one wing. An Oracle of the Dragon's Throat - a herd of primarily Pegasi. Tell me, Oracle, how did this happen?"
From the silk sheathed back of his beloved, the startled Zephyr who was her constant company fluttered, unsettled from the comfortable dip in her back by the fire’s sudden white flare. Small round eyes reflected the burning spectacle with both dislike and discomfort- fire was not a bird’s ally, nor had any length of time passed yet that could mellow his aversion to the sacred flame of his friend. There was a naked tree reaching with gnarled, hopelessly dead limbs into the blackened, star-strewn arc above and that would inevitably become Silas’s roost beyond the playful lick of flames, night after night, as the mare he loved learned to worship, and tend her temple.
Africa too was taken aback, though after the heatless glow which had enveloped her that afternoon during the herd’s most recent meeting, she was not startled. Pale, insecure eyes watched with amazement as the roused fire seemed to transform, to shed its frightening heat and again dissipate. Her long, weighted ears swayed uncertainly through the swollen tangle of grey mane, listening in vain (she couldn’t help but feel a little ridiculous) for the burning feature to speak to her- certainly she did not expect that which began to grow from within it.
Quite astonishingly, both Silas whose wary gaze only narrowed further, and Africa witnessed the Diviner’s fire birth a horse; a stallion- a God. The one wing dressing the slim right flank of her barrel fidgeted, the feather’s adorning it ruffling and prickling, as she felt the awe of the situation compel her backwards a step. The strange glare of his white pupil-less eyes provoked her skin to tremble uncontrollably; it was far more disturbing than that of her most trusted Sultan. With dutiful determination smothering the timidness in her heart, she sought their midst, and then the Sun God stepped from his fort of flames; eyes moulting the sheer white so that a far more comfortable liquid gold rimmed pupil was found.
She smiled immediately, awkwardly, because she could think of nothing else to greet him with given the sudden limp nature of her tongue; but that smile faded into something more intimidated the moment he began to speak. The Oracle nodded helplessly, like perhaps a tiny lamb might in the face of an enormous regal lion, completely overwhelmed by the presence before her. “Yes sir...” she blurted swiftly, more officially than anything her casual mind had ever set loose before. Captivated eyes watched unwaveringly his beautiful twice horned face as it turned a dazzling gaze across her; she did not realise right away that which had caused him to lower his great skull reproachfully- by now she was quite used to her own lack of appendage, and spared it no second’s grace.
Her heart did sink though; she felt its terrified murmur in the frog of her hoof.
Without delay she answered, realising how dissatisfactory a one-winged Pegasus probably seemed to a deity so grand and deliciously perfect in every single way- how could he not have noticed before her appointment though?
“Sir, I lost my wing as punishment when I trespassed against the direction of my herd and my leaders. It was a fair price to pay for the prudence now in my mind.” It was maybe only the second time she had spoken of the unfaithfulness (no matter how involuntary it had been), to anyone other than Silas- of course nobody else knew so much about that fateful moment in her history. “May it be a reminder to those with foolish intentions, that treason is a crime.” Although the souvenir taken by those ghoulish Unicorns in the Basin brought terrible disability and revolting disfigurement to the kind-hearted dappled mare, their memory kept her heart and mind all the wiser. One day, Africa would fly again- though not in the form of her ancestors; her kin.

The GOD of the SUN
Burn the whole world down
The God's lip twisted upwards in disdain as the oracle spoke. His heart did not break with concern or caring, as his brother the Earth's might have. Instead, his twisted with fury and pride as each word Africa spoke secretly pricked his soul more. Of course he knew what had happened to her, and while her words softened the story with a gloss of punishment and desert, that only served to reinforce the reason he had chosen her as Oracle in the first place. The purity of her soul had been tested in a fire even hotter than one he could easily produce, and still she stood before him with subjecting blame to the unicorns. His firey tail lashed angrily around his golden hocks as she concluded, his bright gaze rising towards the sun. He was reminded of a dark winged mare - one who had given her life for that sniveling corpse and his pet. Tares had been one of his. His. And his did not like when his things were tattered, or broken.
"Once you are ready to exact vengeance Oracle, and return to the skies, seek me out. Until then..." Stepping back, the God regarded the dappled mare with a heavy sigh. His bright gaze skeptically washed over her. The forager was petite and beautifully pale in colour with bi-coloured eyes. The sultans - one a primitive monster, and the other with gold heralding each step and...then their was the Oracle. She was so different than Cassiopeia, a mare who in appearance seemed to take after his sister more than himself. Still, she had a certain...allure about her. Looking now at the one wing dappled mare, painted in shades of gray, the Sun God did not see that same...spark.
"...Until then, take these." Reaching with his pink nose behind a wing construed of fire, the God pulled a leather bag. It was clear that the bag was not empty. As the God set it down, a bright red feather spilled out onto the sands.
"Oh and Oracle - Watch the darkness will you? There is a sickness in Helovia, that cannot be fought. Tell your Sultan's to mind their borders."
With this last cryptic offering of wisdom, the God erupted in a ball of flames.
[Congratulations! For Africa's overwhelming activity and dedication to the Throat she has been given:

Silas can help her put them in. If you would like to take up the God's offer of questing to return her wing, make sure it's on your wishlist!]
Sheltered tightly against his ethereal breast, bathing in the warmth and safety graced by his soils, Africa felt completely overwhelmed, indebted and thankful for all the mercies this God had bestowed upon her. She was a mere babe before him. Dumbfounded and lost as her eyes beheld frantically the beauty emanating- the trickling fire from both his mane, tail and the shimmery quills embellishing his wings; the sheen of his metallic golden cloak, the regal poise of his holy form standing before her. He was breathtakingly beautiful, and so terrifyingly perfect that she began to tremble with exhilaration; humility.
The dwarfed Oracle wanted only to please him and serve him, and this determination alone held her steadfastly upon the rust-red sand by the fire, fuelling the confidence which rose from the depths of her being to answer. Though frail was her heart, and burdened by the mortal world surrounding them, the one-winged mare found strength from his hard, quite proud approach. She shed that feeling of childish desperation, and clothed herself instead with calmness and conviction.
“I will Lord.” The dappled creature vowed, nodding and noting the hint of demand; that he would have her fly once more; full stop.
Africa learned quickly many lessons- that the Sun god observed her kind with a critical, vengeful eye; that he was no tender heart who soothed hurt with blankets of warmth and compassion; he did not sympathise, and perhaps most importantly, he wanted his Diviner whole again. The Oracle wanted more though than to be ‘fixed’ from his perspective, and wondered perhaps if the unsatisfied glint between those bleached lashes might sway to something more contented if she could decorate herself in his element; in fire. That would be a task down the line though; truly, she knew not even where to begin, and to ask for such a prize would defeat the element of surprised approval she wished to attain in the first place.
The Sun God spoke again, and she was delivered suddenly from her thoughts by the confronting tone of his smooth, manipulative voice. Black rimmed ears danced to attendance, attracted atop the tangled mane dressing her poll, and she watched with a broadening stare as he reached beneath the flaming feathers of his wing to pluck a plump leather bag; a satchel- one which could be perfect to transport those treasures she seemed always to find littered across the countryside. As he set it down, Africa saw the feather spill out and reached to pick it up instantly, rolling it between the gentle grasp of her teeth with interest. Gratitude spewed across the warm curl of her tongue as it fondled the feather’s tip, but the God spoke again quickly and she held her silence.
He told her finally, to ‘watch the darkness’, and intrigued, her pale face tilted as she tried in vain to properly understand his meaning. Immediately she thought of the Endless Night, of the smothering darkness and toxic fear which had ripped through all of Helovia in the absence of he, the Sun God, and his siblings. There was no time to ask about the enigmatic statement though, and all at once he erupted in a fiery ball- and she was left to reflect his warning in thickening silence, the dancing flames of the temple lighting the bewilderment sown into her expression; the packed back still slumped by her hooves.
Silas croaked in the tree behind where the Sun God had stood, perhaps in disbelief; certainly more mindful that the fire beneath bore more than just heat and a healthy appetite for his beloved’s bric-a-brac collection.
