"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

She drifts from homeland to homeland, a leaf on a breeze- or the fetid stench of rot and decay lingering in air. Scarred hips sway as she moves at idle pace, seeing but never recognizing, lost in the play of her convoluted thoughts. Captured, captives, escapees and insubordinates of dissent; was it worth their worth to bind them, fetter them, demand they remain? Should she advocate freedom and the ability to return home? Nay- it was impossible, for they knew, and could not be allowed to go to their hearths to spread lies of the Skullface and Dragonmaster. Even as she thinks her thoughts of dominance, she reprimands herself; it was and is not her responsibility to control them, not her responsibility to withhold them, for that duty fell to the hale captors, her children, her family, her Regime.
It was now her time, to infiltrate and to learn and meet and befriend, to become loyal to her second family, to teach them new ways and bring to them something exotic and foreign, something little Helovians liked to forget- blood and iron, the drums of war, the song of battle; and gentler things too, a vision of unification, the banter of children growing and blossoming, cheer and good spirit.
She headed north-and-westwards, following the breeze of salt and sea spray, damp woods and wet branches; the land darkens marginally, a jutting cliff over a foaming sea. There is a storm brewing in the air, a scowling thunderhead, rumbling dissent and attempting to discourage her from her path, her destiny; it brings to the hellion smells of dead things and mould, with the sharp edge of clean snow, but more curious is the sight before her. Confutatis pauses, hesitates, at the monstrosity- a wall. It is gaping, broken, wounded, a dying thing of shattered glass and torn barriers and drifted snow; what caused the destruction? Shadows, war, companions? She does not question further, instead turning to move alongside it, a constant divider to her left, and she wonders as to the inhabitants and where they might be; but never does she be so bold and reckless as to march into the depths of the mist-cloaked land.
If any are left after the DARKNESS, they will come to see who lingers at their borders.

“Welcome to my home,” the queen's voiced trilled out brilliantly, the dancing tones as magical as would be the day where the land was no longer coated in winter, but rather blooming in the sunshine of the spring. Her head, then her body following, went over the crumbled pieces of glass wall there were blocking her way, taking her outside of the safety of her forest home. A gentle breeze, chilly though it was, lifted her mane and tail, throwing them about and twisting them together, settling them back on her neck in a voluminous mess.
Looking over the stranger before her, the queen took in her many traits. Her skull marked face, no doubt not of her choosing, her many scars, the scent of blood in the air. All of these things would have put a normal horse on edge, would have made the regard the stranger with suspicion rather than curiosity, but Kahlua was exceptionally unobservant and an absolute master of ignoring the painfully obvious. No, there was no suspicion, no concern, no fright. There was only happiness, emblazoned across her face as plainly as could ever be, there for the world to see and enjoy. Even her blue eyes sparkled with her naivety.
Nodding her head, the queen continued on genially, glad to see another wandering along her borders. She had intended to head to the Threshold, to wander the forest in search of new life to fill her forest with, but this skull faced mare had made her trip much shorter and her job much easier, if she was in fact herdless. And if she was not, all the better, because diplomacy was as good as herd growth. “I'm Kahlua, queen. How can I help you today, my friend?” Always too much information too soon, too open, too careless; But her childish heart would not be broken in the day. Nightmares only plagued her at night.

Where the sun goes, the storm follows. Kaj trails peacefully behind the painted lady, desiring only to see her safely to the borders. He does not always approve of her gallivanting across Helovia, fearing she would be snatched up for her title and held in captivity where he cannot protect her. But he keeps silent, allowing her heart to be free while he submits to their duties within the herdland. Kaj would rather she be happy than stuck with him where she could not explore and be free. He would proudly hold his responsibilities and be happy with her own happiness.
Thoughts are interrupted by the smell of old iron. Blood. Harks drift to half-mast and eyes narrow, the scent of wilds touching his nostrils not moments later. Kahlua advances to the border, eagerly announcing herself and welcoming the newcomer still unseen to Kaj. Uncomfortable with leaving his Queen in the presence of one who smells of death, no matter the age of it, he quickens his pace and appears at her side. He is massive in comparison to the both of them, a guardian at Kahlua's side, willing to protect and defend at all possible costs. Instead of warm curiosity, he regards the newcomer warily, though he is not one to judge on appearance alone. It is the smell that makes his insides curl, because he knows it so well. They all have scars. Some are just more visible than others. Confutatis would not be judged for the ones he could see upon her.
For a few moments, long and lingering, he is silent. Contemplative. Finally he speaks, the words a deep rumble that work from his chest up through his throat to crack like lightning across the vicinity, naturally demanding in the deep baritone that all others take heed of his lyrics. "Kaj, King of the Edge." Silence falls around once more, an impenetrable veil. Kahlua holds the floor for the moment, the militaristic King tightening his shoulders automatically for the conversation about to follow. For now, he will say nothing. His gaze is not unkind, merely guarded, but Confutatis must understand the importance of his herd's and Kahlua's safety. He would not be so easily convinced, when something so jolting was in place upon her skin. Perhaps if she were to share her story, he would be more accepting. Instead, he lifts a wing to brush in secrecy against Kahlua's flank, eyes flickering to the side. There is no particular message to be shared, but he worries. Worries one day she will wander too far, and he will not be at her heels fast enough to protect her. To remind her of the horrors of the world he tried to take onto his shoulders so she wouldn't have to.
