Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

The caves, with so many around, they had become rather disgusting in places and the large Beast was not one for dirt. He hated it in fact. The snow was always so clean, barely ever a spec of dirt would he pick up. The pristine white so pure in every aspect. And the caves they just harbored dirt, being underground was not his thing. He needed to bathe and what better place than the Sunken falls to do such a thing.
As if stepping from clothing first, the Beast readied himself then waded into the cool waters. At first he stayed in the shallows, timidly walking around. The water was oddly cold at first, even though the Beast was used to temperatures much colder than the caves, which oddly still held a warmth to then, despite the lack of the warming ball of fire.
He pawed gently at the surface, such a soft touch for a large mammal. He played in the shallows for a little while, almost a foal; if only his size wasn't so large. His large tail slapped against the surface, creating a large area of ripples, intriguing him greatly. He always was amused by the water, but when you only saw frozen lakes, it was even more spectacular to see a pool of liquid.
Water flicked up in a great wave as his tail skimmed the top, splashing himself in the face, he chuckled softly, content. And at that he pushed deeper into the pool. A smooth transaction, almost as if he just fell face first into the water. The beast only went as deep as his cloven hooves could still touch the sandy bed, with his head still above. Dragging his long beard through the ripples, creating a smaller circle of them. Stupidly he put his nose straight into the water, enjoying himself a little too much. Only to be ruined by a silly, idiotic mistake. He choked on the water. His breath stolen from him for a brief moment in time. The Beast truly was new to all of this.
Feeling less sure about the water, he moved back to a safer depth, where he lay down in the cool pool, his tail flicked around, sprinkling water over his large boulder like bodice.

He was hungry. This simple fact was announced quite frequently these past few days by a rumbling sound that emanated from his belly - Kari liked to compare the sound to the growling of a desert lion, a tremor of earthquake, or perhaps the sound of reality caving in around a giant pit of nothingness. It certainly was how his guts were feeling - empty, void, oblivious to the existence of food. Really, it didn't take a genius to figure out that a foal without his mother would end up starving. Anyone would be able to piece the puzzle together with a bit of time and effort; yet for some reason no one had even thought of asking about his parents. Gee, the world truly was going to shit if the sight of a single, lonely foal had become such a common sight that no one even reacted to it anymore.
Kari had done his best to stave off the wearying hunger. There were plenty of moss, grass and fungi growing in the caves and an abundance of water - strange no doubt given the lack of sunlight, but such was the state of the world these days - yet his body still craved the thick, fat delicious milk that only a mother could produce. He also found himself missing the comfort of a presence to return to. Shadow had never been a very good mother, but at least she had always been there to provide for his basic needs - food, shelter, protection, a set of sturdy hooves to sleep next to and a calm, steady voice to answer his questions. May it be that she held no deeper feelings for him (it's what she claimed, at least), but for Kari she was his one and only mom, and as such, irreplaceable.
It was with an expression of dramatic misery that the little colt entered the waterfall cave, hungry and lonely and utterly convinced that no one in the whole world would care if they stumbled over his dead body in a few days. He didn't even spare more than a few moments of moodiness to curiously examine the new cave; they were all more or less the same already, dark and gloomy and seriously lacking the things he wanted most.
He did pause, however, to study the hairy horse that stood belly-deep in the basin beneath the waterfall, poking hooves and nose and whatnot into the water. His small head tilted curiously to the side as he followed this anomaly, slender tail slithering lazily around spindly legs... He startled as the brute suddenly choked, cloven feet actually leaving the ground for a second only to regain traction against the slippery rock with the pillars spread wide and wings half unfurled. Then he began to laugh, a pearly bright sound that bounced against the walls of the room and mixed with the sound of rushing water. Cocking the tail in a fit of sudden fit of exuberance the gray foal started forward as the big stallion retreated to shallower waters and laid down, tiny feet careful as they approached the brink of the pool and warily tapped at the rippling surface. Clear droplets splashed up against his chest, and with a squeal of delight as the liquid cooled the skin Kari plunged in, cheerfully bouncing up and down to make the water splash even more.
"This is fun!" he eventually exclaimed and froze in place, sopping wet and wings spread widely on either side as he turned a widely grinning face towards the stranger. "I thought you were being strange splashing the water but this is great! What's your name, silly person? You can be my friend, if you want."
HP:42.5 Helovia Hard Mode
Permission granted at all times to use magic and violence on Kari
Genetics had wrapped her in a long, silky, golden hide that gleamed in the dimness of the cave, and as she strayed up and down the entrances of the rooms like a grey ghost threatening to haunt the very beings in this cave, but there was no wind to grasp the tips of her frosty hair and let them sway their savory dance. A glimpse of her eyes is all that can be seen as the shadows of the cave engulf her. Her eyes are curious, evidently oblivious. Their golden hues glancing softly at the pair in the water. Her swift hooves carry her past the entrance of the falls room in a shushed clatter of thuds. Maybe the two playing together would smell her luxurious scent. Her scent was not a potent stench, like sulfuric brimstone, in which burned the nostrils of whoever was unfortunate enough to smell it, but more of a flowery scent. She smells of no herd or place in Helovia particular.
Anayis slithers to a stand-still and rotates one of her audits backwards as the young voice of a boy laces towards her hidden body. "What's your name, silly person? You can be my friend, if you want." Smiling with pearly white teeth, the lass remembers a time a few years ago when the innocence of youth had still resided in her young, warm and bubbly personality. Still, the golden femme doesn't turn back around and walk her way up to the pair. She keeps her distance, for she doesn't believe in the tomfoolery of flapping around in the water like dying fish.
That action separates the royals from the peasants.

The Beast was so caught up with his own reflections, playing with the ripples and imagines that cast across the water, He barely even noticed he had company until the sound of someone plunging into the water came from behind him. He turned to glance with a slow motion. Never did he move very fast. He nearly would have missed it if it wasn't for the wings. Such a small little guy. The Beast smiled back as they seemed content in playing in the pool. He chuckled softly to himself. "So eager little one" He smiled at the sheer innocence of youth. Though you could say the Beast was still in his youth for the way he was acting also. "You can call me Beowulf little one. What can I call you?"
Seeing that the little foal was amused by the splashes; just as like himself. He lifted his thick massive tail and smacked it down into the water, creating a large wave of water in almost all direction. Some went so far it hit the cave walls along the side. He chuckled softly, as if they weren't already soaking wet, they would be now. At least the horrid stench of the caves had left his coat.
Little be known to the beast, but they had acquired another set of eyes a spectator in the sport the two children were playing.
The beast flicked the end of his tail, creating a little pool of ripples, he rolled to his side, rather awkwardly, then rocked back the other way, getting a motion to help his large size to his cloven hooves. Using his tail for balance as he managed to stand, rather slowly. But he got to his feet, only to have his tail slam hard down into the water. Splashing around yet again, as he turned to face the little grey guy.
"I'm Kari" the boy announced proudly, puffing the chest out where he stood, belly-deep in the liquid that kept boiling and stirring in reaction to their movements. "You're really big, aren't you?" he said... then shrieked in delight as the thrash of a tail sent a wave of water in his direction.
Exuberantly he tried leaping over the tip of the wave, cleaving its edge with clumsy feet and half-spread wings. Despite his efforts the brunt of it smacked into his chest and washed over the feathered appendages, darkening slate gray coat and down into something close to soaked ash or maybe a storm-cloud before lightning strikes. The boy only laughed, unconcerned about damp feathers or soaked tassels. Instead he tries to mimic the wonderful effect by slapping his own tail into the water, time and time again.
Alas, how disappointing. At best he only accomplishes a tall cascade of droplets that soak him even further, the fruit of his efforts lapping harmlessly at the sides of the maned beast beside him. Kari frowned dramatically and threw a long glance at his playmate with the full intent of asking him to do the tail splash again - and had to keep looking, because something truly astounding was happening. Beowulf began to rise, and in pace with the laborious effort Kari's jaw dropped, more and more as his gaze rose to keep contact with the thorny face. Finally, on all fours, he somehow read the mind of the colt and splashed the tail into the water again...
But this time it knocked the frail colt over completely, taken aback and unprepared as he was. Giving off a slight yelp in surprise the hybrid fell off his feet and disappeared beneath the surface, completely submerging for a good while. The struggle of legs could be seen, efforts made to rise from under the weight of heavy soaked wings. Then the surface split and saw him emerge once more, coughing and wheezing to get the water out of his lungs.
