Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

Never before in Syrena’s life had she felt uncomfortable before but now she did, now she didn’t know what to do. How could this be? What sort of place was this Helovia that it could turn her into nothing more than an ordinary horse. Just that thought made shivers run down her spine. She was a herbivore now, a disgusting, lowly herbivore. She was still dressed like a monster - the ability of her dull coat to transform into dozens of colours when it came into contact with the water, the fins that decorated her head and bottoms of her legs - but she had lost the ability to do the truly magical things.
How was she supposed to hunt like this, to kill in such a useless body?
The bitterness drove her away from the beautiful land of the Falls and out, out somewhere. She wanted to find the forest where Essetia had found her but she didn’t know the way - she had not been used to paying attention to where she was going (it had never mattered before) and after leaving the rocky land she tried to retrace those steps.
But her heart brought her somewhere else. Right past the forest where she had been found, until the scent of saltwater caught her attention. The ocean. There had not been an ocean near those woods but the pull of the tide was too strong for her to avoid. Perhaps there would be sisters there, perhaps they would be able to tell her what was happening to her. Why had everything that she was get taken away from her, leaving her a horrid shell.
The beach was empty. In the sweltering heat of the afternoon she felt impatience growing, mingling with the bitterness and anger until she could not remember what it felt like to have positive emotions. She had been abandoned, stranded here for being the most beautiful of all her sisters. They had driven her here with their magic, that could be the only possible explanation. Trapped her here so she was no longer a threat.
The only remaining trick she had was the only thing that could soothe her now and she could not resist the chance to feel beautiful again. Without flare this time, without caring whether anyone was watching, she waded into the shallows and watched as the water changed the colour of her coat around her ankles - turning them a rich teal and bright tropical blue.
Pointless now, but it was something at least.
Fathomless slate-grey eyes stared at her ankles, wishing nothing more but to let the seafoam take her out of here and back to where things made sense.
The water continued to lap at the siren mare’s ankles. It was a quiet day. The water was relatively still. The gulls were quiet. The beach was empty. But when her flesh met the sea, something had been awakened. The malcontent was carried out to sea with the tide and shuffled away on whirling currents. Feeling travels just as quickly as light or sound through the teal blue waves and invisible currents beneath.
And the souls of the departed heard the voice of one of their own. One who clearly needed guidance and suffered in the absence of her sisters. So the decision was made.
On the beach nothing changed quickly. All this had happened beneath the waves in mere moments. The waves continued the rhythmic pulse against the shore; against the siren-mare’s ankles.
…until the water began to pull away from the shore. First ten feet. Then twenty. Continuing back and back until the sea was hundreds of feet back from the beach. The damp seafloor lay exposed the beating rays of the sun - sea creatures of all kinds lay vulnerable and exposed. And then it came rumbling back – sounding like a mixture of crashing water and thundering hoofbeats against the exposed seafloor. The water returned all at once in a wave with three distinct crests – a strange sight for any wave, much less one of this size rushing back towards the shore.
But slowly the crests of the wave turned into crests of a different kind – crests of necks of creatures born from the sea. Sirens just like Syrena that had long since returned to the water that called them home. The water around them took shape and began to form solid legs, a discernable body, manes and tails made of seafoam, and even the fins that set them apart were discernable even though their bodies were made entirely of water.
The sea rushed back over the beach, leaving the three watery souls standing in front of the living, breathing siren. They shimmered in the bright light, casting strange patterns on the sand. They did not step out of the water completely, for they could not survive on land. They were one with the sea now. They were departed souls, but the dead were never considered lost souls. No, the dead remained behind for the very purpose of guiding the truly lost souls that remained living.
Syrena would know why they had come.
But they spoke nonetheless.
“Sister,” the first of the trio spoke, in a voice that sounded so much like the ocean waves from which the figures had just emerged. “What troubles you?”
And with that the trio fall silent and wait for the lost one to speak.
She needed guidance, but not from any of these creatures that were crawling all over Helovia. The gathering for that flood had shown her just how many there were, and just how few intriguing specimens there were. There had been one, a stallion dipped in stars, that had caught her attention (not that she showed it) and she was almost curious to see if their paths would cross again. Today, though, today was not for any of them. The pathetic and the strange and the ugly.
Her eyes had closed after she had stared at her colour-changing ankles for a couple of moments, visions of a happier place getting drawn up from her memory. Where she was someone to be feared, pure and unattainable. And her sisters! They were solitary except for once a year when they all gathered on a beach much like this one - not always the same beach, they would all flock to the nearest one and see who showed up. It was her favourite time of year - swapping stories, bragging about their kills, judging their choices in who they chose as mates.
But… but something changed. The water receded from around her and she opened her eyes to watch it sink farther and farther away, leaving plants and creatures exposed to the harsh sun, before rushing back around her. This was not just ordinary water rushing toward her, however, the thundering of hooves joined with the roar of the ocean and her heart leapt. Could they have actually found her here, in this barren land?
The answer was yes and her heart soared as the water rushed toward her and formed three of the most beautiful being she had ever seen. Sirens in their final form, a part of the sea and manifesting for her now. A smile, bright and genuine - the sort of smile she only had for those she loved, her sweet sisters - washed over her face but their voices caused it to fade again.
“Sisters… help me.” She stood where the water rushed around her - where it was deep enough that the crest of the fading waves crashed against her heart and she felt the connection in her heart. “This land, it took my powers from me. All I have left is the ability to change colour in the water.” At least she had not been left with nothing but the borders of Helovia had taken away her ability to feed herself. “I’m ordinary, just like the rest of them.” There was such vicious distaste in her voice it was far beyond self-pity. “I need your strength, your guidance. Should I leave this place? It’s so different than our usual haunts. I don’t want to give up but without my gifts…” She hadn’t spoken this much since Essetia had asked her about being a Siren, grabbing at the chance to show off for the pretty mare.
