"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

Dead men tell no tales.
She shifted and winced and then proceeded to grumble incoherently.
The fight with the crocodile God had left her with a bruise where her wing connected with her shoulder, re-aggravating an old wound from the Hidden Falls battle and forcing her onto the ground. She could fly, but it hurt, coupled with the weight of her watch she could only manage short bursts. Enough to bridge the gap between the Throat and the mainland, but it still hurt so she resigned herself to walking and so she began at a disgruntled plod to the Vein of the Gods. Ghost had been quite excited to do her first patrol, it was an opportunity to get to know a few more members and a chance to visit a place the sprite had never been to before. Even when the Caela Insula floated in the sky Ghost had used her own wings to get to it and completely avoided the strange cloud bus that took non-flight mammals up. Even then she hadn’t visited the floating island that often, but enough times to see Midas crowned ascended by the Earth God. It was odd and rather sad thinking of him, he who was now no longer with them, whilst she walked the precarious path to the veins.
The sun was getting higher in the sky as midday approached and she was about to sigh but a slip of a cloven hoof cut her short and she stumbled forwards, peering over the side that led down into the lava streams. The sprite mumbled a series of curse words as her shoulder throbbed from the sudden movement and carefully she righted herself into a stable position. Her more nimble companion had already made it across the path and now stood at the other side like some reigning overlord, judging the spy who couldn’t put one foot in front of the other. Ghost pulled a disgusting face at him and carried on walking until finally she couldn’t take it anymore and flew the rest of the way.
Landing on the ledge, Ghost looked around to see if she could spot any of her fellow patrollers before shrugging and moving to inspect the area. She found the charred remains of the Sun Gods shrine and fell to a halt in front of it, taking her time to bow her head once to the God who was patron of her land. Ghost never used to take much interest in deities, although their recent excursions had caused the banshee to pause and think about them more. She wondered if they still had a presence here or whether the shrines were just rotting symbols of what once was.

Warm wind carried Einarr with little effort on his part. The bloodrider was pleased, gliding low on the current of air that would carry him to the Veins of the Gods. Seasons ago, he had asked Megaera to hurriedly show him the path to this place, but now his body could bring itself to the shrines without thought. It was a place Einarr found himself in when his patrols were done, before he headed back to the desert. After the Earth God had granted Mordecai's life, Einarr felt a connection to the gods of Helovia. The stallion was no stranger to religion--but before Helovia he had never truly been an observer. He had respected the gods of his homeland, surely, for they were gift-giving gods. But they were also gods of wrath, and were easily offended. He had seen his own father punished for a lack of reverence, and the inky colt learned to keep his mouth shut and his prayers silent after that.
That fear, that drive to silence, had been severed after meeting the father of the Earth. The mighty tribrid had gained the warrior's respect and devotion. These were two things that were hard to lose when given by Einarr. After the battle of the salt flats, the stallion also gained respect for the Sun God--the patron deity of his newfound home. In time, Einarr suspected, he would get to know the god as he had his brother Earth. For now, however, he was simply left to his memories as he tucked a wing and descended toward their shrines--broken, and cold, and sad. A frown tugged at Einarr's lips as he finally landed, cloven hooves finding able purchase on the peninsula guarded by azure lava. Reddened eyes darted upwards and found the form of one of his patrol partners. While the stallion did not know her name, or rank, he had seen the faintest flash of white-and-red wings on the desert sands before he came to meet her here.
A snort greeted her, as the stallion tucked his wings and closed the distance between them. "Find any off thing?" He asked, voice gruff and choppy.
She turned at the sound of his husky voice and eyed her patrol partner for the first time, ignoring his question in favour of taking a moment to inspect him up and down. His colouring was almost exactly the same as hers, apart from the white stained his face and the red was held in his eyes. He was also quite a bit taller than the banshee; she wasn’t that small after all and her brows rose as she nodded appreciatively to his well-toned build. Not bad. He sported some impressive looking scars too and she wondered what stories were behind those; what kind of souls had he met? Perhaps some fanciful characters if he had such thrilling scars, unless he was a klutz who fell over his own wings and feet. Which she doubted given his athletic body; why was he so muscular? Apart from to be a general distraction to those with appreciative eyes, like Ghost, who approved greatly of his robust look. Not that her approval mattered anyway, but she liked to give these new family members she had a once over. That way she could spot them from a distance, or at least, that's what she told herself.
"No" she finally replied to his question and dragged her gaze away from his handsome body with a sigh and a shrug. "Quite boring really" Ghost had never been on patrol before, she’d only ever watched over her own borders, although she didn’t know what to expect, the banshee had wanted more than just a jaunt over to the Veins. She had nearly fallen into the lava getting here after all.
Fantôme was slowly making his way towards the dark male, carefully padding forwards, his beady eyes trying to sniff out the scents on his coat. Ghost watched him for a moment before returning back to her patrol partner with a curious gaze. "You seen anything?" she asked, Ghost liked to pride herself on her perceptions, but the passing seasons had taught her she wasn’t all knowing and that arrogance in her own ability got her into trouble. So she asked more and presumed less.
Finally, she shifted her wings into a more comfortable position and, after a few more moments, introduced herself "I’m Ghost, new to the Dragons Throat… The wolf is Fantôme" she nodded to the still-investigating shaggy thing, who stopped suddenly at the mention of his name and looked gingerly up at the red eyed stallion as if he’d just been caught doing something he shouldn’t.
Ghost fell silent, propping up one back hoof and looked around for any others.
