the heart is deceitful above all things He did not mind the dark. For the better part of his life, Osiris had come to accept his place within the shadows of life. Clinging to the shroud of darkness, swathing shades about himself, the monster who had frightened so many was kept at bay. By hiding the other half of his lineage in the ephemeral shadows, the wolf was able to mimic normalcy. All the scruff, the pointed teeth, the large lupine ears, the clawed paws, and the eyes of a dog - they were hidden within the night's embrace. The darkness had long been his friend, his companion, his safety. Long had the stallion considered his rightful place to be within the midnight world. A monster bound by chains of shadow for all eternity. Until, of course, he met the one shadow which sparked light into his world. Comadre, a thin imp of a dragon. Dragged from the sorrowful caves in the mountains, out into the light of the world, the wolf began to experience what life held beyond the shadow. There were friendships, enemies, loyalties, and the most frightening of all, the tightening of his chest caused by an emotion many would insist was love. Just as soon as it entered the fragile realm of his beating heart, the emotion was shut by abandonment, betrayal, leaving the path more obscured by the twisting coils of darkness than every before. One more face to bury in the grave of his memories. One more name to forget. One more connection to lay to rest like all of the others. One more regret. However, for all the sorrows the real world had brought upon him, Osiris did not feel anguish in his life. Friendship had been found. First, it came with the dragon he had wrest from the roots of a tree with his twisting words. Then, the golden eyes of the wolves who rescued him. Next, it came with the mismatched eyes of a young girl. One after another they had begun to form. The loneliness of his soul shuddered to a halt, and the wolf began to forget why he had taken such an affinity for the dark. The real world of light, it was perhaps more mysterious and twisted than the shadows he clamored to before. More obstacles, more turns, more heartache - yet was it not also more beautiful, more exciting, more wondrous? Now, the colors of the world were lost in the absence of the Gods. Whatever kindness they would bestow upon the beings here had dried up, gone missing, leaving the souls bereft of comfort. The absence of the light was felt, and Osiris understood the true nature of his beloved darkness. A cage, bars made of endless night. Unless someone freed you from the misery of that cage, you would never leave. Had it not been for his first true friend, Osiris might still be within that same cage. Standing beside one of the strange trees illuminated by unknown forces, the wolf begins to wonder if he had been placed back inside the cage he had been born into. The night was endless, and the small warmth provided by the breath of spring did not fight the chill growing in his soul. In the shadows, you are alone. Without a doubt, we are all alone. when you and I were forever wild. I wandered the meadow, my ebony mane swept fluidly across her chest, and front legs. My forelock enswathed my face, only allowing my eyes to see past. A blaze jutted out of the flood of hair, slowly creating a nuance of pink on my left nostril. my lithe body, floated through the tall grass, and thistle. eyes gazing across to the trees. observing the small creatures darting about in the permanent black. My dainty feet pulled my petite body around the meadow. It seemed empty, an odd occurrence for my past experiences in this land. My walk was interrupted by the beast, his tall, canine-like body crept from the shadows. His paws gripped the ground with his sturdy stance. His pelt was thick, and grey, as it flowed in the breeze, his mane and tail were massed, and hardy. His appearance opposed mine, his being tall, and warrior-like, and mine so short, and limber. However, our eyes were the same, and warm, ambry orange. they cut through the night as if to glow, showing his stiff gaze. I batted my eyes at the large hybrid, and slowed my walk. I stepped toward the stallion. My eyes burning into him. he did not scare me, although his teeth stood sharp, and dangerous, holding a strong ability to easily wound me. I did not see a beast, I saw a being. Not a wolf, a common enemy to a horse. "Hello sir, my name is Yuri, what do they call you?"

when you and I were forever wild. I looked up, puzzled at the gruff stallion, just beacuse he was part wolf, didn't mean he was a monster. There was no easy way to scare me off. I rolled my eyes at his speech, it seemed like he had said it a million times. Full of himself he was. "Monster, Mongrel, Sometimes even 'mister' - though that is usually only ladies too petrified to insult me." He barked. I looked up at the Stallion. Hishead long and furry, his eyes were sharp, peircing into me with a painless blade. I shoved my muzzle upwards, my neck pointed straight to the sky, and my nose still didnt come close to his. My looked up toward the sky as I spoke in my british accent. "Petrified my ass..." I rolled. "..someone has spent a little too much time in their cave, big boy." My eyes drifted downward to the stallions large chest, and bulging muscles. My brain started to second thought my statement, no going back now. The tall, dry grass slapped his thick legs, and engulfed his claw ridden paws. His long, sharpened, lupine teeth jutted from his mouth as he grinned, a big sinister smile. This guy has got to stop trying to scare little girls, save it for halloween. I thought. "What do you want, girl?" The stallion grouched at me. "Am I prohibited form taking a walk, Sir? It just so happened you were on my route. Now, no more jokes, what is your name, big boy?" I snapped back at the jack o' lantern, he could very well be one with his sharp fangs, and glowing eyes.

when you and I were forever wild. "Let's leave the child to play by herself." He said. The mare lifted he big, ambery eyes toward the stallion. Would he dare call me a child? The least he could do was be grateful to me for giving him a nice greeting, instead of his apparent usual petrified victims. I thought, rolling my eyes, and sat down in the scratchy grass, so much for a refreshing walk. I watched him turn, stepping his grouchy body away from me. Why would he do such a thing? He was the one that made the snappy comment to me in the first place. I flipped my forelock out of my eyes, and watched the beast start to walk, slowly, as if waiting for me to say something back to him, as he took his little friend, and packed up and left, as if I cared, or maybe I did. He did seem quite annoyed by the bubbliness of my first remark, which he had all rights to be. Maybe I was just being a bit pissy, I thought. I mean, I usually dont make snappy, and arrogant remarks with potential friends. With a great sigh I arose, from my sitting position, and gently, and lightly trotted after the stag. His large body swaying in his walk, over his paws. "Listen, I am sorry about my remarks earlier, they really arent, me." She said, looking at the stallion without a roll of her eye or a smart remark.
