"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

Beyond him, the light was lifting up and over the horizon. It would have been a magical thing had he not been so alone to witness it. The past few months (or had it been a year?) were still very much a blur to him and though they left him feeling more confused than ever, he still had faith in the cause he now followed with the vigor of a young colt. Life was his focus and while the purpose he once felt toward the Basin had all but left him, the Blood Prince had not fallen victim to the same endeavors that had killed his Sire and his Clan. Time and again he spent hours upon days contemplating the loss of his family and his pride, but after so much darkness he was thankful to admit that it was not all lost. In fact, his dignity had only been damaged, but not yet beyond repair. So he clung to the hope of a brighter future filled with victory, with success, and with the brimming threat of curiosity that made him wonder just where he stood. He had been a devout citizen of the Basin until that moment because he had been so filled with an eager hatred for all those who had formerly damned him. But these creatures were the least of his worries now- now he faced something much larger, more significant… He faced the rebellion of his own desires.
The longing to learn and the longing to overcome all that had made him bitter was something that was becoming increasingly heavy on his mind. He had spent his dark nights and oddly enough his dark days pondering where he would go “from here”. That’s not to say that he had not found friendship and devotion in the Basin, because Lena was an ever-pressing object of affection on his silent heart, along with d’Art and a few other friendly faces that were certainly swell acquaintances all the same… But what purpose had he here any longer?
The disaster of the Invasion had made him quiet as of late and though he longed to seethe and mourn with his companions, he could not tame the swell of fire that burned haphazardly in his now lively heart. Nothing remained in his conscious from those days of warfare with the Edge and that was reminder enough to such an eager warrior that those violent days were coming to a swift and unexpected end. He felt no rush of vitality considering the idea of bloodshed and instead found ruthless confusion blocking his hell-damned path. It was as if his legs were paused beneath him, fighting the way toward an inner hatred that burned for no other reason than mindless, opinionated banter between herd lands. He intended to stay with this close-knit community he had called home from the first day he set foot in Helovia, but perhaps his youth had been stolen from him and it was time to admit that he was indeed changing.
A flawless curtain of ebony threads fell over an ominous set of piercing blue eyes. The colors were striking beneath the new sunlit skies and Déodat had almost forgotten his own worth up until that moment. There was something enthralling about the way his forelock and mane cascaded down along his neck and over one muscular shoulder. It had certainly grown in length since the last time he was able to properly inspect it, even from such a limited viewpoint. He was not often one to indulge in his own self-appearance but he knew that in spite of losing the sun to complete shadow that he had not lost his own personal value. He was a striking creature and perhaps, at times, he was the first to admit it.
Slowly, he rounded the outer borders of the Basin, patrolling the morning risers in hopes of reveling in the shocked faces he encountered at the sight of the first sunrise after so long. The bird song was louder than he had ever come to remember it, but of course he had yet to hear it since the light of day was stolen from the residents of Helovia. It was almost shrill and so high-pitched that it made him cringe. He was overwhelmed by all the color in the world, despite the everlasting winter that plagued his homelands. Never had he ever been so delighted to see the snow and the pristine virtue of its perfection. It glistened and gleamed like a small child beneath his feet and for the first time in a long time, he let his voice ripple to the heavens in a cheery chorus, happy to embrace the life he once loathed.
'Oh, there you are.' It is said flatly, although you are truly relieved to be with company that isn't completely strange to you. It never even so much as crosses your mind that he may not feel the same, and so you continue, filling in the expanse of snow between the two of you quickly with an ungainly sort of trot. It felt like an eternity that you had been alone amongst the seemingly endless snow and the sparse wildlife that rarely gave you more than a queer glance, and you had found it more difficult to settle in than you originally hoped for. Everyone seemed so serious all the time, something you do not understand in the slightest. 'Good morning!' You chirp brightly, coming to a standstill with a heavy exhale and a crow hop; your dark hair falling like a waterfall to frame your face, eyes flickering from the bay and to the horizon, and back to your shadow-man again, pursuing the curvature of his neck, the chiseled lines of his face, and finally the blue of his eye for just the shortest of moments before continuing on with your useless prattle. 'The sun feels nice, doesn't it?'
Your smile widens, brimming with a bubbly sort of excitement, hiding the insecurities that could eat you alive. It had always been your favorite time, dawn——it always reminded you of summer, the way the warmth permeated into your very marrow, colored you careless and happy as a lark, the air crisp with a sweet yet sharp taste, chased away the darkness for another time. It always has been something that you wasted the rare restless nights longing for. And it is strange, now, that the rising sun only pulls like a lead weight on your heart——sinking endlessly, the color and the spin. The birdsong seems to grow louder as each second of silence laces itself in the space in between, causing you to shift uncomfortably as words escape you. It really wouldn't be so bad if it didn't happen so often to you, if these things came half as easy to you as they seem to have for anyone and everyone else. As if the universe would conspire solely against you. Ha. 'So…' You begin again, kicking half-heartedly at a small tuft of snow.
'Is it always like this here?'
