The girl felt it humming, calling for her, its life-force powerful and strong, yearning, clawing, reaching for her. As the dragon's fire made the layers of ice that separated it from the rest of the world thinner, she could almost hear it, like an addict's drug, calling her name. Amaris, it called, look out!
-- That wasn't the orb, but her dragons, having spotted the sea-monsters below, and the great ape creature above the ice. Guilt tore through the girl, swift and lancing - why, every time something like this happened upon Helovia, did something have to die? Why was the trade-off always to be paid in death and destruction?

Was it worth it?

It had never been worth it to the girl. Memories flickered through her mind of the great monster-like creature that had come through a doorway, cradling in its midst an egg that surely contained a creature capable of bonding - the girl remembered the hours she spent washing the thick, black ichor of the beast from her scythe in the ocean, and then later, at the Throat. She didn't want to have to wash the blood of this abominble snowman off her reaper's weapon as well.

So instead, she ignored the yeti, and turned her attention instead to the shapes that swam beneath the colt. Worry shot through her now, mingling with her guilt to create an anxious storm that twirled and rampaged about her heart. As her dragons continued to use their heat to make the ice thinner, she flew towards the water, towards the colt who was fleeing for his life. Following in swiftly behind the butterfly-winged girl, Amaris did similar to the speckled belle, only after she had struck out with her hoof, she followed through with her tail - even daring to swipe with her scythe so that the shark might taste what it was like to be bitten by something most certainly nearly as sharp as its own teeth. She didn't want to draw blood, but she had to protect the colt - every motion she made she claimed in her mind was for defending those who would otherwise suffer.

But did that mean that the shark would suffer instead? Obviously, she thought sadly, however, unable to take back the motions she had already made, she simply kept flying onwards, finally taking in the scene (that had turned quite turbulent swiftly) from her perch in the skies above.

Amaris' dragons continue trying to melt the ice while she goes to kick a shark in the head.
