WE HELD TOGETHER THE FRAGILE SKY TO KEEP OUR WAY OF LIFE

Naerys' world would still be relatively small if it were entirely up to mother. The Edge is, of course, the most familiar though when the Earth God had called to bring them all together she ventured into the Thistle Meadow, down to the caves, and the lands in between. Since then, her own world expanded to include the ancient Rotunda and the forests east of the Edge consisting of the deep forest and the threshold. The caves were of a particular interest to her, however. Her time in them had been brief and her curiosity ran high. She'd heard of the story behind their existence, knew mother felt uncomfortable with them and that father had spent some time inside in solitude but she longs to explore every ounce of their depths - to shine light into the darkness. She doesn't sneak out of her home or away from her mother, she just... neglects to let her know where exactly she's going. Weaning means unabashed freedom for the chocolate and white filly.

The further south she traveled the stronger the sun felt against the darker portions of her coat, causing her wings to relax at her sides - folded loosely to allow the breeze to filter through and cool off her skin. She welcomes the heat, though. The warmth finally thawing Frostfall's chill in the marrow of her bones. For the first time, it finally felt like spring. Her teal eyes welcomed the vivid colors of the landscape, the brighter flowers mingling comfortably with the purple and white passionflowers popping up everywhere her hooves touch. The sky above her seemed to open, stretching further than it ever did further north. Back home in the Edge, the sky is obscured by the persistent mist blanketing much of the territory. The mist is home to her, as it likely always would be, but that does not mean her mind and heart won't wander.

And wander she did.

In the main room of the caves, the girl found herself entranced by the lava flowing beneath a thick, glass-like surface. It is a rather peculiar sight, to be sure; one that had managed to escape her notice entirely the first time she ventured inside. The rocky floor is dark and rough, matching the walls surrounding the molten wall. A sudden thud behind her startled her back into awareness, a squeak involuntarily escaping her lips. Her entire body jolts, sending her skittering forward a few steps with her head raised, eyes wide and ears plastered against her skull. The filly successfully resists the urge to unfold her wings, remembering the small bird upon her shoulders as well as the fact that she's below the surface. Flying, for all intents and purposes, would be useless here. A thought that hadn't really entered her mind before now. Cautiously, she turns herself around - each step more agonizing than the last until finally she spies a pale figure on the ground.

Naerys' heart flutters frantically in her chest, and though her nostrils flare with every breath it takes her several moments to realize what stands between her and the only exit to safety. Before it dawns on her, though, her imagination runs wild - dreaming up every bad thing it possibly could and for the briefest of moments, she fears for her life. The girl breathes a heavy sigh of relief when she notices the pale figure is, in fact, a foal with wings and horns. Petyr, the small and fluffy green bird, remains silent on her back; the boy has enough sense to know when to keep his beak shut. Grateful for his silence, Naerys allows her teal eyes to scan over the other filly for the briefest of moments. "Hey..." she begins, her voice soft; betraying her youth. "you all right?" she asks. Despite the wall of lava, the darkness in the cave is enough to hide the smaller details. Completely missing the other filly's quivering lips, Naerys takes a couple steps forward. "I'm Naerys." she offers warmly, glad that - for once - she wasn't surrounded by adults. The Edge isn't exactly bursting with foals for her to play with, goodness knows. Her bright teal eyes watch the other filly with a light but friendly curiosity.
