I can feel surprise colouring my features.

It had occurred to me that father would have heard by now that I had relocated - that I bore the banner of green now rather than orange. But it had never crossed my mind that my feelings for Ranjiri would play into this debacle at all. And how did he know? My father is not the most observant, especially not when it comes to emotions. So how did he know. How does he know?

I tried to stand taller, suddenly finding myself in the middle of a conversation that I hadn’t planned on having. I would never hide my feelings about Jiji, but nor had I planned on using them as a justification for leaving. I had made this choice, and it was I who would take responsibility for it.
