The GOD of the MOON

From the stars came the heavens

At the sound of the question leaving his lips, the Goddess' gaze rose to examine the sky thoughtfully. There were so many ways in which she might answer that question ... so many different hats she might wear. Would she answer as a mother, caring and loving? As the Goddess of the Moon, manipulative and cunning (or as she was often thought to be)? As ruler of the Edge, fickle and demanding? Or simply as herself, whatever that entailed.

The Goddess sighed, her silvery gaze pulling away from the expanses of the heavens to regard Mesec once again.

"Darling it has been so long since we've seen each other on any sort of regular basis. You've had to grow up without the guidance of a mother and father for much of your life." Who even knew where D'art had gone. The Goddess' hadn't bothered to check. "Perhaps that can be changed. Besides, you've a family of your own to take care of now. Why not raise them under the light of the moon, where they belong? Where you belong?" Her voice was soft, yes, but was there also a hint of need there? Of want? Was this what she thought Mesec should do, or what she wanted him to do? "Come home with me, to the Edge. There is much that I can teach you, much of the world you have not seen. "

Her wing extended; an invitation to accept her counsel. But would he? After their complicated history, after all the things she had done - had to do - to keep Helovia in check? All the animosity she had endured? And now, in the aftermath of what was likely the most demanding trial Mesec had ever faced, would he see her as a manipulator? Or as a mother?
