She lowers her head to study his drawing, glancing up soon after and coming up with the correct response. He nods in confirmation to her question, the faintest hint of a smile lightening his stern features. He has been called many things in his life, but of course he prefers his actual name, and is relieved that the winged girl had deciphered his picture so easily.

She comes to stand next to him, far closer than any stranger normally would, save for foals. He is uncertain of how to react to the mare’s unexpected closeness, used to being shunned and proclaimed a monster. At the most, he was usually tolerated with barely concealed disdain, necessary but not liked. Though Pluto was not looking at him, attempting to be friendly but disgusted by his mutilation most likely. As she asks what the land was like, he wishes Beauty was with him, knowing that the chatty filly would have been more than happy to provide a description of all the places in Helovia that she’d visited. As it was, all he could do was shrug apologetically, and offer a faintly sheepish smile.

He could show her though, if he could get her to follow him, and lead her to a place to call home. Remembering how he had convinced a stallion named Note to come with him, he walks a few steps in the direction of the Throat, then pauses and turns back, inclining his head in an invitation to accompany him. In the desert, there will be others with voices to sate her curiosity, and it would be easy to leave should the land not be to her liking.
