They came to her one by one, but they were not what she was expecting. The first to arrive was a pegasus stallion, decorated with silver jewelry in his hair. Of all the pegasus she had seen in her life he looked the most like a bird and was just as awkward on the ground as they were. She shivered involuntarily as he looked at her with sadness swimming in his eyes. He didn't know her nor her pup and yet he felt emotion for them. Her eyes closed as he breathed on her neck, the warmth of his breath stopping her shivering momentarily.

A second arrived, this one a unicorn mare. She brought with her rain and an offer of help. "There is nothing you can do for me." she weakly informed the two. The rain, however, brought an air of comfort to the wolf. It allowed her to cry and mourn the loss of her pack, her children, herself, and not feel weak because of it. These strangers would never know that she had cried, not with the rain falling down on them. There was something else it brought with it. A sense of hope. The blood that stained her fur was washed away and its scent washed away and forgotten.

Still more came. Another pegasus and an equine. The pegasus offered to take her pain away, to which the mother declined his offer with a shake of her head. The rest of her pack had died suffering the same pain, the same wounds she had. She would not disgrace by running away from the pain. Her ear tilted toward the equine as she laid beside her, providing warmth. The wolf relaxed her body against the equine as she looked to each of the individuals her call had brought forth.

Painstakingly, the mother wolf uncurled her body from around her tiny pup and nudged him toward the unicorn. "Your rain cleanses the world, your spirit is strong and pure." She said. "Take and protect my child from the evils of the world."

With the pup taken from her the wolf laid her head down on the ground, her breathing becoming labored. "Be careful." She said to the two stallions that had come. "Protect your pack." She addressed Azzuen. "Love them and hold them dear." Her gaze shifted to Moth next. "Find a pack." She said to him. "Join them, protect them, and love them."

She wanted to turn next to Kiara, but did not have the strength to lift her head. "And you, equine." She said to the girl. "Your compassion is admirable. To you ... I offer my spirit." The mother sighed and closed her eyes as heart beat its last.

Congratulations Huyana, you have received the wolf pup as a companion.
Kiara, the wolf mother's spirit will visit you should you call upon her.
