Gaucho's dark ears flopped slightly, as Onnnmnmnmnmnmneeee appeared. He had never seen the shaman in any state other than quiet poise, even when she had been injured by the monster. She always seemed to self-contained and calm, yet it seemed that worry was now etched on her graceful features. Had he known Kri was her mother? Gaucho probed Mara's mind for an answer, as if she was the embodiment of his memory, but the snake only mentally shrugged. She hadn't been around the entire time that Gaucho had lived in the Throat, only most of it. Maybe? She replied, her dark gaze falling upon Onni, but moreso searching for the snackable size companion who usually accompanied her.

His thoughts were pulled away by the petite golden-dapple mare - a mare who would otherwise have gone unnoticed, had she not mimicked his word. His teeth clicked together as his antlered brow rose, stormy gaze peering down at her. Was she making fun of him? Unsure of this herself, Mara slithered slightly down his nose to try and see past Midas, to where the girl was standing. She appeared...naive? Was that the word? Maybe just new, and so with a soft hiss, Mara retracted, sure that the girl hadn't meant any harm. Maybe she like you, the snake offered silently, her forked tongue brushing against Gaucho's ear. The bay grunted in response, and nodded. Maybe, he replied mentally. Speaking, hard..

Gaucho listened intently as Midas spoke, trying to store all of the important words and phrases, doing his best not to loose what his Sultan was saying. He heard him speak of the Ed-jah, which he realized he had never visited. Mentally noting that he would go there next, he almost missed Midas speaking of the Ass-eye-lum. The next order of business was to the dark mare, Shadow. He had seen her often, hiding her dark coat beneath some equally dark shadow, to escape the sun's heat. Silently and simply, he wondered why such a rank was necessary. Gaucho get? He mused, wondering why they couldn't simply take by force, what Shadow might silently steal. Women, he concluded finally, noting that while Shadow had proved herself in battle, that perhaps this was her preferred method of contributing. He only wished more of his brothers were like that. It appeared only himself and Levi were present to represent their militia, and after their previous challenge, Gaucho still remained somewhat skeptical about his abilities.
