Gaucho had been nearly silent on their journey. Thoughts had been invading his mind, and the warrior was helpless to both carry on a conversation, as well as ponder. Multi-tasking it is said, is hard for males. This is even more obvious in the case of Gaucho, and speech. And so, the Wildfire's dark lips remained tightly shut, as thoughts whispered in his primitive mind.
Gaucho's dark body gleamed with the heatless flamed that licked the feathers of his wings and his dark locks streaming behind him. His normally stormy blue-gray gaze was now lit with a deep orange glow, as the blessing from his patron God reflected.
Meg's news had been...shocking, though well received. Their efforts to pin down this threat was slowly beginning to show weaknesses in the enemy, and advantages on their side. But the war was long from over - and he hoped that the enthusiasm of his troops would prevail. The newer soldiers, those with courageous hearts but no scars upon their bodies, would likely be swept away at the news that the waters within the caves could heal. Hearing the voice of a God echoing from within the Earth was surely a wonderous thing, but this gift? A way to rid this plague? Momentous, of course but...the war had not been won yet. These new waters were still untested, and Gaucho hoped that his Siguls, Guardians, and Spears would remember that.
On the almost imperceptible breeze, the dun smells something. It is familiar but...tainted. Like something sweet which has been left in the sun too long, and has begun to fester and grow mold. It is still a scent that he recognizes however, even under all of that decay and dust. A scent he detected on gee-gee not so long ago, and one that permeated through the ruined veins.
Aurelia.
The golden child he knew when she was young and awkward in flight - and then the young mare she grew into, who sparred with him well, if a little naively. It was that voice that broke ahead of the body racing towards them, those lips that ushered such broken and eerie cries, and into those eyes that the Wildfire now looked.
Spreading flame-tipped wings, Gaucho moved brazenly ahead of the group. He was unsure if these creatures fully possessed the bodies they inhabited, or if Aurelia was still in there somewhere. Gee-gee seemed to be...at least, her memories were still there; would it be the same with Aurelia? Regardless, if anything would happen, it would happen to him.
"Stay behind!" Gaucho demanded, lowering his antlered skull aggressively, as his stormy gaze sought out the once golden-beauty. "Aurelia!" He bellowed loudly, with Mara hissing her own call as well. Her name left his lips in broken particles, as it had always done: Our-elle-ee-ah
Was she still in there? Would she come willingly, knowing that they had a cure? Or would he need to risk himself to drag her there? "Waters in cave heal...you." He was tempted to say that the water would heal this, but decided against it. Something deep within his chest told him that the child of the Throat from long ago, was still in there.
Somewhere.
