With the news that it was safe to return to the surface, Alysanne had rejoiced. Although the caves had not been terrible for her, they certainly held some unfortunate memories that she was happy to escape from. Or, at least, she was trying to escape from them. Without all the darkness and shadows, it was easier to believe that everything was fine, that they could all go back to something close to what they had before. She had been to the Edge first, with the shattered glass wall and their new, wonderful king and queen.

Now, though, she was taking a little time to stretch those wings properly and get herself reacquainted with Helovia. But she wasn’t in the air for long when something rather colourful caught her attention. Something new to discover! It would not be all that strange, there were bound to be hundreds of little spots she had yet to explore. Any excuse to With difficulty, she managed to land just near what turned out to be an odd, stone structure – stumbling on the landing and tripping over some bushes on the ground.

The quick laugh at herself (she could never seem to get the hang of landings) was cut short when she realized that she was not alone – there were two mares standing inside the stone structure!

Alysanne seemed to have a knack for walking in on significant moments as she was exploring around – this was not the first companion hatch she had stumbled along. Well, she had never witnessed the actual hatching and maybe that was why she strayed a little closer instead of deciding to turn around and leave the mares. She thought of Voodoo and little Ouija and wondered how they were doing as she moved a little closer. The dappled grey mare was familiar to her and she remembered her from before they were all taking refuge in the caves – she had come to the Edge to help out with Resplendence’s herb garden! But Alysanne couldn’t recall a name so maybe they had not gotten around to that part quite yet.

Cautiously, she entered the strange stone structure – cautious because she was wary about the glass ceiling, as beautiful as it was it seemed a little too fragile to be above their heads. What if a wind were to come through or something were to fall on it? Would it shatter or not?

Luckily enough, her attention was not on what was above their heads for long. She moved through a column one over from where the dappled mare did, offering her a warm smile in greeting. Even if they did not know each other well, it was always good to see a familiar face! Then Alysanne’s emerald gaze drifted to the object of everyone’s attention and she saw that there was a little egg, twitching about. “Oh how marvellous! Congratulations.” She offered in a gentle voice, ready to leave if she was intruding. Maybe these two were friends and would prefer for there to be no strangers about! The painted Pegasus certainly would not take any offense should that be the case.
