Maelstrom
The sun faded and shifted, moving low toward the horizon as cheer blossom hues dancing low in the sky. Pastel tones painted her blank canvas, glinting from her ivory horn and casting a long shadow across her face like a portable sundial, telling her of the night to come. Granted it was a pretty shitty sundial, being on her face and all. But that really isn't the point.

With the sunset came fear. Fear that it might not rise again, fear of her own self worth. Fear of Tharos and his god damn words. His words that very morning plagued her, yet she forced herself to throw them aside. In Ktulu's absence, the Titan had taken on guard duty, patrolling the borders as it seemed few else bothered. She finally realised just why she had never been ale to speak to illusive mare; she had been so swamped in duties that were fit only for lesser members that she simply had no time. Artemis did not mind it though. It seemed few in the herd bothered to speak to her, and those that did did only because they needed to. It bothered her, yet she tried to hide it. I was as mother said; emotions made you weak. You are the only thing that protects you from death, others only speed the onset.

The night was long and restless, but she managed to sleep a few hours, woken by the sunrise. The dawn shone over her like a blanket - warm and comforting, dressing her pelt in a thousand hues. And as she woke, plodding toward a nearby stream to drink her fill and to try t wash some of the tangled debris that had lodged itself in her plumage, (she really couldn't care less, but others probably thought she was some sort of feral beast), a call came. She raised her head for a moment, taking note of where the call had arisen from before saying her thrust and beginning a casual plod in that very direction.

It was not so far away and she reached the meeting point in good timing despite her pace. Her eyes fell upon Lakota, though the mare could only just recall her name from the last herd meeting, and she dipped her head in greeting. She wasn't sure why she answered the call, because she doubted it was for her ears. Nothing here was, but she arrived just the same. "Lakota, I recall? She spoke softly as she glanced toward the cub and back toward it's bonded. "Artemis. What is it you are calling for, my lady?" Always with the formalities, the mare was stuff and well spoken. She needed to relax, but it seemed she was incapable of that
