The turtle gifted him the griffin - as he should have. Torleik would have kicked the impudent and stupid Pegasus for her petulant and incorrect thoughts, had they been vocalized.

A songbird? If Ampere knew her birds, she would know that the tiny, but curved, sharp beak visible within his little griffin's egg was certainly not that of a songbird. She had no idea how wise it was, her decision to neglect challenging him for the egg. The blue, winged-horse would have been introduced to violence the likes of which she had not seen before.

Murmuring his thanks to the Earth Turtle, Torleik gently used his hoof to push the still-hot egg into the nest he had brought, watching it come to settle after a few moments of rocking. Picking up the nest in his teeth and placing it on his back, the dual-horned stallion gave a small bow to the Earth Turtle and turned an acrid gaze to the bitch who dared speak that his charge of this small, defenseless creature was a mistake.

The stallion was not one to judge overmuch, or hold a harsh grudge, but her words bored into his skull and ignited a hate within him that was cold in its intensity.

He would repay her for those words.

A disdainful, haughty expression twisted a sneer onto his face as the over-emotional, unpredictable, unfit-to-be-a-parent Pegasus began to warp the world with her magic as she fled in a fit of childish rage.

He snorted. "Mm, a mistake indeed," he muttered to himself, turning away. Torleik bowed his head once to the other mare who had come late, respecting her effort. He hoped that perhaps she would find a creature soon that she could care for. She seemed to have a good heart. "Do not give up," he said softly. "One day, you will be on top."

Pleased, but also somewhat worried - could he really take care of this small, helpless creature that was so unlike him? - Torleik trudged away from the fiery pit of hell in the center of Helovia. He was a parent now, in a sense. Strange to think it...
