TORLEIK
Death follows into your watery grave

Torleik had been deeply unsettled to see a blue Pegasus come swooping down from the sky, and out of protective instinct, had firmly planted himself in front of the orb, between it and the flying mare. Much to his displeasure, however, the Earth turtle explained that the babe's parents must have abandoned it - and that the three of them would be tested to see who was most fit to take care of the thing.

This would be interesting. The dual-horned stallion was highly competitive and was loath to lose a competition of this kind. If he was to lose, it had best be to the other mare that had come second, and not to that damnable Pegasus. His disgruntled mood was short lived, as he focused himself on his task.

This thing was half bird, so he needed to get proper bird things. But it was also half lion - or so it looked - and he needed to take that into account. Still, it was the back half that was lion, so...perhaps less important. An idea occurred to him instantly: birds liked shiny things. Birds put shiny things in their nests. He would give the bird a shiny nest. But that was not all he would bring; that would be a rather simple, straightforward and uninventive gift. No, he would find a way to make the nest special...

Glad to be away from the molten temperatures of Helovia's Heart, Torliek lowered his head to look at the ground if only for a brief respite from the blazing sun - and then it struck him. Were there not gems in this ground somewhere nearby? They would make excellent additions to the nest. Searching diligently, the black stallion, sweating profusely in the heat, found what he was looking for. With a careful pawing, he worked as many gems out of the ground as he could comfortably fit in his mouth and made a straight line for the Basin.

He needed Ulrik.

His engineer friend would be of the utmost use here with his magical abilities to create marvelous mechanical contraptions. The shaggy stallion was not hard to find: he was outside, tinkering with some other project already."Lulrech," Torleik called around the slobbery mouthful of gems, spitting them out when he drew near. "Might I ask a favor? It involves you creating a machine..." he added, hoping that would pique the engineer's curiosity enough to agree. Otherwise, this plan was lost.
