The girl had not lied when she said that she could make the climb, a fact that rather impressed the woman who had seen others tucker out and grow weary not too far from the Basin, forced to stop by the complaints of their sinew. But the babe, as small and fragile as she seemed, appeared to have the heart of a much older and more experienced creature, the Lady growing ever more fond of the child as the journey progressed. She had pulled aside to take a small break at the beginning of the ice flow that formed the Frozen Arch, sipping from a cold pool of water that had gathered from the ice melt and taking a few mouthfuls of delicious grass; the mare could find no finer fodder than that which grew around the mountains than perhaps the sweet foliage that grew within the Thistle Meadow, but unlike that place, one did not have to worry about slashing their nose open on the violent flowers that grew everywhere in that field. It hadn't been for a true need other than that the path leading up to the mountain didn't offer much sustenance until one came upon the valley in the peaks, and as she drew her movements to a halt, she explained this to Jorogumo for future reference should she decide to go exploring. "It is important to keep ones energies full and to think ahead when living so far north," she had stated, already finding that she was rather comfortable in teaching the child about the land and the way of life that formed the coven in the mountains; in fact, Illynx fond herself quite chatty with the little thing, an incident that hadn't happened since she'd returned home with Ruka. The girl would surely suffer some from the cold until her pelt thickened and adapted to the climate, much as Illynx's had. The mare rarely traveled too far south unless it was in the colder months, her naturally thick and velveteen pelt too dense for warmer climes, leaving her nearly melted in a puddle of heat exhaustion every time she had tried.

Tallsun's sun had settled during their conversation in the forest of beginnings, the black air cold and filled with a swift running wind that traveled in, quite thankfully, from the southern region rather than the insidiously cold Steppe. Still, by the time the returned to their assent up the mountain side along the narrow and hidden path (the mare carefully pointing out to the babe where the entrance to it was, as well as where she must watch her step) the sun was beginning his daily climb into the sky, the forest they had just come from beginning to burn with an elegant light along the horizon. By the time they reached the Basin, the sun would be high overhead, for which the Lady was thankful; it would allow Jorogumo to see her new home most clearly, and once that was over - she could press her more about her father's language and from where she had come, if she could even answer such questions.

Arriving to the hidden valley, the mare stepped aside from the entryway and nodded her head towards the gap in the rocky curtains, bidding the babe to step into the clearing first and without Illynx's ass obscuring her view. "Welcome home," she happily grinned, her tiredness at not having slept in the past twenty-four hours forgotten in the enthusiasm for this moment. It was why she went and found the travelers, her lost horn bearing kin, to bring them to this safe haven that was so splendidly beautiful it could make a grown man weep - at least as far as she was concerned.
if I only could make a deal with God.
