Her hair was whipped about, slapping against her skin...it stung in the cold wind. "Once we get to the other side, the wind should die out." Her voice was probably lost the the blasting air that seemed to be causing ice to freeze around her bones. The tundra at this time of year had little, bitter and brittle grasses and shrubs. Her golden eyes studied the land as they past through, snow drifted lightly down onto her back. Her hooves by now knew how to carefully navigate the many loose rocks the were littered across the ground. They were lucky to be passing through during a warmer season, in the colder seasons the ice and dirt combined to become slick sheets of danger, and it wasn't unlikely to have to wait out a monstrous snow storm in the chilly caves made by the glaciers and the frosty archways.
Continuing determinedly, her thoughts went back to the time she had passed through here with Mauja and another new unicorn. The other mare had grown into quite the bitch in Arah's personal view, she regretted showing the brown and cynical mare her home. But it had been quite a while since Ellie had been seen lurking around, but as Arah had suspected, she disappeared. Perhaps Beowulf would also disappear into the snow, never to be seen again. Coming back to the present, Arah saw the end of the arch and grinned, walking against the wind had become exhausting. As her body was carried to where the arch began to open up to the mountains that created Aurora Basin, the wind began to die down. The closer Arah got to The Basin, the less wind she had to battle until finally she was at the edge of The Arch, The Basin only a short journey away.
"Come along and watch your footing." The journey down into The Basin could be deadly to new comers. Still Arah smiled as she took a moment to look upon the range of mountains preserved with white snow that made her home. As usual, the land was covered in it's frozen blanket. The ground was frozen solid beneath her hooves, it was always frozen on the path. All year round The Basin remained a land of snow. Leading the way to a narrow mountain pass they began to descend in the land of frozen dreams and kisses. A smile that not to long ago had become slightly forced was now easy, relaxed and completely carefree. Being within this frozen home had a certain joyous effect one her.
"We have a lake that will never freeze, and at night you will see the most beautiful auroras in the sky." Turning slightly to avoid travelling down a more dangerous path, The Impersonator no longer cared if the others were still following. She still spoke as if they were behind her though. "The grass is quite thick and lush near the lake, and when the snow melts the warm earth is revealed to be hidden beneath." With a sigh her eyes were raised to the mountains. "Look at the tall mountains around us, they are our protection from the harsh and brutal winds, and they give us homes within our home, there are caves all around us." Her eyes returned to the path, she paused before choosing a path. They were nearly at the bottom now, she was nearly home. "We also have hot springs over there," She gestured with her hoof. "Anyone is welcome to use them..." A single word with a double meaning to it. However she was soon taken over by her love for The Basin again. "Lastly, we own a 'mirror'...it lives resting against the wall of a cave, though it will not give you a reflection."
They reached the bottom and Arah finally stopped. The Basin in all it's glory spread out in front of them. "Welcome home Beowulf."
