I feared for her, my companion. We hadn’t an ounce of proof that they were somehow immune to this strange curse—yet, the undead seemed more interested in those of equine origin. Perhaps when they ran out of prey, smaller species would find themselves without hope. As we dared to cling. Hope. This entire fortress seemed build upon the fragile dreams, and lives that rested within. Just as it had been a shield for our ancestors many generations ago. It was hard to not dwell on the horrors above when you were living beneath the fury of a volcano. Though, that didn’t mean our stay in this cave was horrible; nay we had fresh food, water, and above all, safety. |
