Lakota
The Poisoner

Shivering with the force of the release that came from shoving that thickheaded Oxy around, Lakota turns back with a roll of the eyes, back to her goal of the Sanctuary exit. How many times would she be sidetracked by fools like that? She hoped none, or she couldn't guarantee her mood holding out. Arrane had brought her a ray of hope and light in her heart, and her bitterness towards Oxy only grew. At least she'd managed to help Resplendence, in the end, and had finally let loose some of the pent up aggression in her body. Now, with Aodaun at her side, her eyes locked onto the cavern exit, at the light pouring through to pool like liquid warmth on the floor below. Glancing around, wondering if anyone would deign to stop her, she stepped into the halo of its color. Only to freeze as a voice rang out, one she thought she'd never hear again. It spoke only one word, at first. Her name. Lakota's breath seized in her chest and she stared up at the light pouring in, heart trembling and eyes round with disbelief. Surely it couldn't be that easy? Ktulu, was she healed somehow?

If she was healed, why was she beckoning Lakota out instead of coming in? Her stomach felt queasy, knowing somehow that this was a trap, but she simply couldn't turn away when her beloved began to beg for help. It was pitiful, so unlike Ktulu that it made her want to shy away, but she would not. Instead of strong she felt weak and small as she began to climb the pebbled path up to the ground above. Blinking dumbly to adjust her eyes to the light, her heart dropped as she gazed upon her love's form. Why was she facing away from her so oddly? But something was off, and Lakota knew it. Something told her to run, an instinct hidden away in the nature of her existence, but she ignored it. This may be her only chance to capture Ktulu and force her into the healing waters below. She just had to buy some time, distract her.

"Ktulu," she breathed, daring to take a step out of the protection of the entrance. How good it felt, to be able to revel in the sunlight- the real sunlight- for the first time in days. Aodaun paced restlessly at her side, casting distrustful glances towards Ktulu. "Ktulu, I can help you. I just need you to trust me." She kept her voice calm, soothing. Ktulu was larger than her in both height and mass, but Lakota would drag her into the cave if it cost her her life, damn it. Ao continued pacing, growing more agitated, but she hushed him quietly and turned her head back towards Ktulu.

"Everything will be fine if you just trust me, Ktulu," she crooned, wishing she had some sort of verbal influence over the deep crimson beauty. Her body screamed at her to run towards her, to grab her and never, ever let her go again. Never again, not after last time, and all the times before. She wanted to stamp and scream and call her a stupid, reckless imbecile, and she wanted to keep her close and cry and smile and breathe a sigh of relief all at once. But while she could control the storm, she could not keep it from appearing in her eyes, and she only hoped that Ktulu wouldn't see. If Ktulu fought back...how would Lakota- a mercenary among mercenaries, and a valued fighter she may be- manage to drag her inside? Ktulu had the advantage, but Lakota thanked her similarly long-distance magic, and prayed to the Earth God that he would keep her strong. It would kill her to have to hurt Ktulu.
