Hellä didn’t move; she didn’t even breathe when the monster started calling for her. No, she wasn’t afraid, but if she moved, it would blow her cover. Maybe the stud had a plan, and if the mare ran toward her, she would’ve screwed the plan up. She kept quiet, and listened as the male plunged toward the disastrous daughter. He must’ve been drunk, because no one would’ve gone after something that could take a turn and ruin a precious breath of life. But maybe that wasn’t it. After all, that was his daughter out there; or at least was his daughter. He could just be brave and be fighting for what was rightfully his. But she wasn’t going to let him do it by himself.

The dappled soldier looked about, trying to find somewhere that might be useful for her. Finally, she peered to her left and found a small cave that she must’ve missed before. It was narrow and she probably would be too large to fit through the hole. Though she was rather skinny since she has been stuck in the cave, and it was a possibility that it made its way out of the cave where Hellä could sneak behind the mare, but she had to be quiet; one mistake and hell would rupture.

She trotted up to the tunnel, sucking in her belly as tight as she possibly could, and squeezed through the narrow hole. Hellä tip-toed up the stair-way, taking one step at a time. She didn’t want to slip on any loose gravel and let the mare know that she was planning an attack; all the wraith needed to know was that she was no longer in that spot and had left. Hopefully, the mare would follow Hellä’s plan and not know that she was being watched.

The gray girl finally found her way from the dense capacity and made her way out into the open, keeping downwind and out of view from the infected child. The land outside was dark, and the grass was now dead. No wonder why everyone had fled inside the cave. The water was black acid and didn’t have a sight of any reflection. The Frostfall snow that fell from the sky turned to a deep gray as it landed across the ground. There was no life left in Helovia beyond the walls of the cavern. Every living thing, and even the non-living features, had been turned to black dust, controlled by the devil’s death wish. It had gone far from any of the God’s reach, and now it was spreading throughout unseen lands.

Hellä stepped closer to the walls as she slid to look around a corner. The dark stud was now trying to tackle the daughter, but he wasn’t doing it all quiet right. He had to push her into the sanctuary, not away. Maybe he will change directions, hopefully. The scared lady could not move, for it was too early for any of her help.

He had to do it himself for the time being.
