"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

When the day is blue, I'll sit around wondering about you
‘Enchantments’ was such a lovely word to use to describe the little bits of magic that they could do. Alysanne wasn’t so sure her own could be quantified as such. “I can fertilize the earth when I’m standing still.” Although she was quite fond of her power, she always felt a little embarrassed speaking it out loud – especially when it felt like it was being compared to something truly magical (and helpful) like Lena’s powers.
She smiled at Imogen as she came forward, sniffing at the ground where her hooves had been just moments ago. Closer up, she realized that there were more differences between this beautiful girl and a regular fox. She was stunning! “I think Imogen’s picked up on some of them!” She chuckled before looking back to Lena now, she decided to explain a little bit. “I’ve been spending my time in this room because of that – I figure if most of us have been living off of these plants, and we don’t quite know how long we’ll be down here for, the least I could do is help them along a little bit.” She knows she’s nervously rambling a little bit, but she couldn’t quite stop herself – Alysanne liked her little bit of magic and she didn't want it to seem too silly.
Now, Alysanne was naïve to a lot of things and she didn’t even realize just how many. Up until her return to Helovia she thought this place was a paradise, and even in spite of all the things that had happened since then – she still felt more at home here than she had anywhere else. At least here it was simply an infection, where they could get better. There was no healing a demon.
And that was it – this little outbreak (which she was sure would end soon) was the only downside to this entire place. Sure, she knew the name Aurora Basin but it wasn’t associated with anything bad for her. She just remembered back to when she arrived in the Threshold and was told it was just for unicorns. Well, she had never thought much of it. Some just felt more comfortable around their own kind, or maybe it was just as simple as unicorns having thicker skin so that they could handle being up north all the time. So her reaction to the name was a delighted smile – after all, she had never met someone from there before! “Oh how wonderful! I’ve never had the chance to visit there, but I spent some time in Frozen Arch.” A fond smile at the memory of Sasha and their latest moments together appeared briefly, but this was no time for daydreaming. “I hear it’s all unicorns. I imagine that’s quite a lovely sight – up there under the aurora or in the summer when there’s flowers blooming.” She quite liked how that image seemed in her mind. There just seemed to be something extra magical about unicorns.
“I’m from the Edge... well I’ve only been there since... Tallsun.” Upon her return, the white and black mare had made it a mission to start using all the Helovian terms for things – though the word still felt a little awkward when used instead of just ‘summer’. “Have you ever been?”
