His answer was mutual to my own in its desire for this disease to be fixed with haste, though my only reaction was to nod with collective strokes. It didn’t ease this old warrior nerves to hear that my son was fighting those unholy beasts, but in a separate way it made me proud of him—this boy was a worthy prodigy and it was high time that he realized that full potential. Still, there was a permanent slice of my soul that saw him as the gangly babe I’d sheltered beneath the awn of gold dipped wings. That same part of me would kill for his safety and continued existence. |
