Roses Have Thorns.

Her hooves clicked on the solid rock, it was the sound that had accompanied her everyday in her life. A boring sound now. The caves were full of interesting people, only Arwen was forced to not speak to them. Her mother was worried about them hurting her, it was fair supposed the young doe. Only...she wanted to play games with them. This would not do however, so instead the young filly was forced to watch from the shadows and return meekly to her mother at the end of the day. Traveling down a corridor she knew lead to a huge and beautiful waterfall, the young girl listened to the soft sound of falling water. The closer to the falls she came, the louder the rush of water would be. Grinning, the filly picked up the pace and began to dash towards the gushing water. Her thirst for adventure could rarely be satisfied. Each day she traveled further...each day she yearned to taste the freedom of above. Outside the caves where snow apparently was falling. Arah had told her that it was cold and wet, solid water that would melt on your tongue if you managed to catch any. Arwen had demanded to be taken above to discover this snow. Only her mother had laughed and told her that when they returned to The Basin she would quickly grow sick of snow. 'There's always snow in The Basin Arwen, have patience my love.'

The words had floated over to her, the young daughter paused and listened to the passing words, they seemed sad and confused. The words brought up shivers within her...although the daughter of ice had no idea what they actually meant. Why would someone not be 'okay? Turning her little hooves to the direction on the voice, Arwen paused and looked over the queer scene before her. A crying mare, she was the one who mustn't be okay, Arwen paid her little mind. The other was an older stallion, who seemed to be attempting to control the situation. A giggle escaped Arwen, the actual sight of the crying mare wasn't amusing, just the silliness of the mare. The darkness would soon go and she could be free again! Arwn knew this because her mother had told her so.

Now she turned back to the male. The markings that covered his body where quite pretty, a bight blueish green...smiling Arwen felt slightly drawn to him. She too had odd yet pretty coloured markings. Perhaps he wanted to play! Bounding over to the stallion with her smiler growing winder, Arwen giggled. "Do you want to play?" Her voice was high pitched and filled with youth and innocence. The demand was given to him once she came to a dramatic stop in front of him. She looked at the stallion...no doubt he would be able to protect her. "Or you can take me above? I want to see the snow!" Excitement filled her at the thought of finally being able to feel and see what snow was. "Mumma says it snows aaalllllll the time in The Basin...I've never been there....but apparently that's meant to be our home." She turned to the crying mare, and smiled gently. "You can come too!"

545 words.
