Helovian Ancient

The darkness that had plagued Helovia had caused more than just the horses to flee. Dwarf dragons, the species which bonded to the residents, had gathered their groups and flew north, hiding in the icy, northern mountains. The griffins moved east, hiding in the inland tree. The Zephyrs scattered, some moving south, others moving north, and the Rougarou? Well... Did any truly know where they went?

Unfortunately in the scramble, so many were left behind. In a nest of cracked eggs, only one whole orb remained, disguised in branches and brambles. The single orb was defenseless and its survival was incredibly lucky.

Naturally, the first one to find this orb was the ancient turtle. Curious, to find the earth turtle so far from the Earth God's shrine, but never-the-less, there he was. The old creature gently moved the orb into a safer part of the nest, cushioning it with leaves and undergrowth he had pushed from the snowy ground. Very carefully, he nestled next to it, his painted shell very obvious against the white blanket.

Then, he waited for them to come and try to claim the egg - but not before they proved themselves.
