I know your wavering heart, intimately</style>

She'd never seen the ocean before.

It was so vast. It was endless. She stared out at it, saw the waves crash the shore and retreat like a pouncing tigress and awed at the power it held. It was magnificent. Every shade of blue and green all wrapped into one, smelling of salt and seaweed. The sand was warm in comparison to the chill of frostfall, holding in all heat that momentarily passed over it. Furthermore it was unlike any kind of soil she'd ever placed herself upon in all her life. Malleable, it slipped away from her like ice, and she wobbled uncertainly on it for quite a while, face contorted in concentration. At first she disliked it, especially the feel of it beneath her hooves, but countless strides across it out of sheer determination and she began to get the hang of it. If it meant seeing that beautiful expanse of water, she'd learn to walk on any element. Overhead, Rathunax watched her progress with a level of amusement, concern, and affection. He feared she'd fall, but her swaying never took her too out of bounds, and eventually she seemed to smooth out as she walked.

The two of them spent their time there, Nayati lying upon the sand, an easily missed expanse of ivory and cinnamon spots in the pale winter sun. Rathunax was zipping above the water, dragging his claws and wings through it with happy 'ryuu' sounds of delight. It's surprising when Nayati spots the damsel first, truly, because Rathunax is far more like a hawk than a dracon with how careful an eye he keeps on his young bond mate. But as her awareness seeps to his, he lifts into the air, a glittering raindropped figure of crimson that rises from the sea to glide over the pegasus female as she watches the egg. Egg? Nayati lifts her head and quickly gathers her hooves below, excitement on her face as from Rathunax's gaze she saw images of the egg wobbling and cracking, the worried tenor of the female's voice. Oooh, a hatching!

The long-tressed lass hurried across the sand with a bright smile, baubles clinking pleasantly as she ran to meet the other female. Breath leaving her in a happy rush of laughter she peered down at the excitedly moving egg and then smiled endearingly up at Alysanne, remembering the words Rathunax- and therefore herself- had heard. "You need not do anything, madame. It will hatch with ease on its own, just give it time. Rathunax did," she nodded her head kindly towards the dragon that circled overhead, peering down at them with big fire-and-brimstone eyes, curious and wary of Alysanne at the same instant. Nayati turned her eyes back to the egg and her smile softened, remembering how Evangeline and Tallis had been so helpful when Rathunax had hatched. "Whatever your companion is, however, it will need nourishment. Would you like Rathunax and I to help? I have attended quite a few of these," she admitted with a shy smile, growing more hesitant by the moment as her excitement died down and her flighty nature came back with a vengeance.

@[Alysanne] sorry for the wait and the crappy post x___x

the rose shadows said that they loved the sun, but they also loved the dark,
where their roots grew through the lightless mystery of the earth. the roses said: you do not have to choose.
