Spring hit suddenly, the snow disappearing as if it was never there and the thick, humid air clouding around her. Irrydae stands upon the beach, the sun cascading down upon her and wrapping her in a warm blanket that oozed some comfort into her. Her heartbeat dulls her mind, stomach in a constant knot. Dead golden eyes analyze the sand that she stands on, the churn of the waves occupying her mind along with the steady thud of her heart. She feels lifeless, like an empty shell just going through the motions - eat, drink, sleep. She’d find herself places without purposefully registering where she was headed, though she was lucky enough to have not ended up in the Fields yet; she planned on never going back. A lump bulges in her throat at the thought, but no tears, no anger, just the constant quiet ache of pain. Pain that replaced her blood and ran through her veins, circulating to every possible inch of her body. She was not living anymore, just barely surviving.
Wings droop at her sides, head feeling too heavy to hold up. A long sigh slips through her lips, eyes turning toward the vast ocean that stretched on forever. Eyes waver on the horizon, why? It’s the only thing she can even muster up to think, and it echoes inside her head. Irrydae feels nothing anymore, used to the pain that rippled through her constantly. The warm air billows around her, the sunny day starting to disappear with the bulging clouds that ached to release their contents - as if they were pregnant and in fact a week overdue, ready to pop. The atmosphere around her shifted - Irry could feel it - but she just stood there. If it rained, it rained. Who cares anymore; there is nothing left.
Irrydae shifts her weight slightly, legs aching though she does not feel them starting to shake, and after awhile they collapse underneath her and she falls, thought it seemed to take forever, body hitting the sand and pushing the air out of her lungs. Her eyes closed slowly, teeth clenched as tears threatened their way to the surface. Irrydae spent a long time struggling with herself and finally, slowly, forced herself to push up from the ground off her side. Her hind legs lie pinned beneath her, and with a sigh of frustration she pushes them out. Chest heaving, her eyes flicker back with a turn of her head to examine the side she fell on, caked in sand. Her head lowers, resting on the sand and dark lids close over dull eyes, left without it’s old curiosity or sparkle. Irrydae did not want to live anymore, and almost hoped that someone ill-minded would come along and kill her where she lay.
