Kahlua
May flowers always line your path
and sunshine light your day

The girl danced through the wood, meeting with her herd where she found them, chatting with friends, making sure all was well. Back from their trip to the caves underground, the girl content to stay here in her woods for some time. Her glass basket was rightfully restored to its position within her copse of trees, the colored gems still sparkling from the ground though the trees. Above her, the spring birds sang their song and the girl delighted. It was only a matter of time before the peace was interrupted. Weyrleaders! Kahlua stopped. It was a term they had stopped using. Still, a smile graced her lips at the possibilities of rekindling what must be an old friendship. She trotted towards the border, humming softly, her harness moving loosely against her and the metal scorpion riding quietly upon her whithers.

Arriving at the wall somewhat behind her king, Kahlua found herself stopping beside him just as he introduced himself. Kaj the Stormbringer. She nuzzled his neck, happy to see him again. It had been too long. As for the others... Kahlua's eyes quickly flitted over who it was that was standing across her wall and she felt a very confusing, very real rush of emotions. Lena, to whom she owed her very life, brought her more joy than she could describe. Her radiant smile tried to project the emotion, but even that was not enough. But the mare with the golden horn, name still unknown, was concerning to the gentle paint. Somewhere in the back of her mind, Kahlua knew that both of these mares resided in the same land. Still, she had never made it a point to imagine Illynx and Lena working cooperation. It almost hurt her soul.

“Kahlua the Sunshower, Queen,” she said when Kaj had finished calling their council. It was mostly for Roland that she spoke, him being unfamiliar. Still, her voice had wavered somewhat. Illynx scared her. Even in the shadow of her brave king, Kahlua feared what would happen. And she had trusted Lena... surely there had to be some reason they were together. She shifted uncomfortably, desiring to go properly greet her friend and the kitsune, but ever cautious of the sword upon Illynx's head. It had come so close to being her downfall... their dance on the ice replayed in her head.

In the end, friendship won out in the queen's heart. She took a cautious step forward, and to the side, giving Illynx wide birth but extending her nose out for Lena, if the Healer- her savior- would have it, but she did not wait long. She retreated back to the safety of her king's side in short time, pressing softly against him, noticing the cold feeling of her glass harness pressing into her skin. “Lena saved me when I was.... a monster,” she said to Kaj, although she hadn't bothered to keep her voice quiet. The others would hear. With a deep breath, she shook the memory from her head. She had to let it go- she needed to concentrate on what was happening now. It still hadn't really occurred to her that this was a diplomatic mission of sorts.

“How can we help you?” Her humming resumed softly, filling empty air with happier tunes, though her blue eyes still watched the Basin's queen warily. Yet, while they waited Kahlua tried her best to come to terms with her fear. She did not wish to disappoint her king again. It had nearly broken her heart the last time.
