There were two things that Wilibald was putting off because they seemed rather… insane. One of them wasn’t so bad but this one… this was the big one. Every morning for the past several days, Wilibald had rolled over in his little sleeping spot and looked at the shining, glistening pool and decided that it was not the right day to go seeing if any god wanted to talk. Well not just ‘any’ god. The Earth God. Of all the gods, that seemed like one that Wilibald could start a conversation with.

His compliments to the creator of this land!

Though really, the entire concept of gods still baffled him. He was skeptical and unsure of magic, unsure of the idea that there were dieties living in this world that contained more power than he could have ever hoped to imagine. So if there were gods, and he wasn't entirely convinced (much as he trusted Midas), he made up his mind rather quickly that they were to be feared. And thus the source of his procrastination. Why hasten the conversation that may very well end his life? If not by the god's work, then surely by his own little heart giving out as the final pieces of 'normality' were shattered.

Clearly, this was a big day.

On this morning, where the sky and the pool were equally clear, Wilibald willed himself forward with a decisive shake of his head. Midas had seen fit to grant him this power, this responsibility, and though every single part of him screamed to waddle out of here as fast as his chubby little legs could carry him – Wilibald would at least give it a shot.

He was here to get new experiences after all!

Too nervous to eat for more than half an hour (a mere half of his usual breakfast) he finally plodded up to the edge of the pool. Though he had approached and retreated from it almost daily recently, up close he could truly lose himself while marvelling at the beauty of the gemstones that provided the substrate. He wondered if perhaps the Earth God lived inside the pool and it was for this reason that Wilibald did not allow his hooves to touch the water. It would be very rude to enter another’s premises without first being invited in!

An awkward moment passed where the small, chestnut pony was uncertain of how to proceed. Though there were no gods to worship in his home, the mere word and the weight behind it suggested that rudeness or faltering would not be tolerated. Skepticism must be swallowed for the moment, and if there was anything the Anduin Ponies could do well - it was would be behaving politely when they weren't sure what else to do. “Blessed morning to you, mighty Earth God! I am Wilibald, son of Hamfast, and the new Storyteller for this herd.” A small pause. Formalities and pleasantries came easy to him but the very best were needed. “It would be a great honour to make your acquaintance, if you have a moment to spare.” Now, to wait? Gods must be very busy and Wilibald wondered if perhaps he should have waited until later in the day. To be certain that he wasn’t waking anyone up! Perhaps there was a whole Earth-God family living in this pool. It surely would get very lonely, with none but fish and frogs and fat little ponies to talk to.
