Had the queen known anything of the stallion's love for her, of his desires for her company in a way that was more than just a friend, more than just somebody to chat and mingle with, to laugh with and to cry with when it was necessary... she might have gone running to the far side of the woods and remained there. It was not that she was necessarily afraid of love. Love did not frighten her, did not give her chills and make her shudder on her very hooves. It was the idea of commitment, the idea of being bound to only one other soul in all of the universe, that made her wary of the notion. If she found the stallion, if she admitted to him her feelings, would she be free to come and go as she pleased? Would she retain the right to explore and bounce, to make friends and laugh, to be a whirlwind creature with no moorings holding her in place? She did not know, but she was frightened to find out. Admitting love was not something that could be undone.

The dragon child's unfamiliar voice began and Kahlua couldn't help but smile towards her, until her words cut short. It was Aaron's appearance that had distracted the girl. Kahlua smiled, dipping her head to him and his companion, nickering a soft greeting and smiling pleasantly at the soft air of commotion that had arisen amongst the four that were now gathered. But soon enough the mild chaos was sorted out and the dragon child, Semira, was finishing her words to the queen. “I'm so glad you found your way back here,” she said, though her face likely betrayed her confusion- not confusion at what had been said, but rather at how she felt about it.

Mention of Mirage was always troubling to the painted girl, if only because she was nervous that the dragon queen would return to claim her throne, to usurp it from her and Kaj's hooves, to continue hiding the herd in the woods instead of using their might to go out and make the world a better place. And also, of course, the queen was rather fond of the title she held for reasons of power and notoriety and she wasn't quite ready to let it go. Still, it seemed to Kahlua that if Semira had known where her family was that she would be with them. “Your family is sorely missed,” she decided on finally. It was the truth, perhaps even the queen's truth, if it had not been colored by her fears. “Will you be staying with us long?”
