i found a bit of the world in a land of nothingness

Whatever customs she had grown up with and had been forced to run through her veins through birth seemed unimportant here. Whatever she had learnt seemed to lose focus and become unimportant, but she felt like a creature of habit now, being careful and suspicious of strangers and the unknown. As a child she had been taught to think differently, but it was amazing how the world can change the souls that float through it, and she had matured into a very changed woman.

Even with the gentle encouragement from the dappled mare, she thinks it best to withhold her name, assurances or not. As a child she had seen how names can be twisted and manipulated, how witches and sorcerers could adopt faces and weave curses or spells. Maybe this place was different, but a given name, in the superstitious eyes of the black mare, was the most powerful thing she had ever known. With her own name carefully tucked away into the back of her mind and the way she remembers her mother had said it when she last saw the scornful woman, Inara nods silently in acknowledgement to Africa’s words.

While the one-winged mare had seen the goodness and the loyalty in the hearts of those she stood beside, the mare with the broken horn was still a stranger to these creatures, and her apprehension, for now it seemed, was decided.

The other mare, as equally dark as herself, brought with her a sort of cloud that seemed to close up the dappled mare a little bit, and this receives Inara’s careful observation with narrowed eyes. She knows nothing of the sort of quarrels to be had between the lands of this place, and perhaps she didn’t really care to know, so for now she focuses on the dark skinned mare. “Not everyone we come across is interested in making friends, unfortunately.” She speaks with a soft voice, remembering the subtly careful stance between the two mares. “There are sometimes sinister beings in the world that ruin everything for the rest of us.” Just as her mother had ruined any chance of Inara becoming a trusting and trustworthy creature when she had turned her anger towards her after that fateful incident with a hungry predator.

With a soft sigh, Inara submits herself to the situation unfolding before her and became willing to acknowledge that both mares were here for a reason, and that it would be futile to keep beating around the bush. “I suppose this is a recruiting place of sorts, and you’ve both been tasked with bringing home more numbers. So what can the both of you offer me? It is an admittance of curiosity, to know just where these two very different creatures hailed from and just what it meant if she were to follow either of them home. Though her suspicions still linger in the back of her mind, and she thinks it unlikely that she will follow either of these mares home if she were to remain uninformed or in the dark.

ooc: Oh geez, I posted from the wrong account roflmao. Sorry!
