It was in these wanderings that they stumbled upon something new and foreign to her eyes, yet obviously immensely ancient. It was the kitsune that alerted the mare to it, when he broke through underbrush in pursuit of a hare, only to scamper across the floor of an old stone structure. The shock of it was enough to make him stop and stare, the awe and surprise leaking through their bond so that the grulla mare diverted her path to investigate herself.
Soon her hooves echoed upon the same stone floor, and blue eyes gazed around in quiet awe. The craftsmanship and artistry that surrounded her were, simply, amazing. It lent a certain air of calm and peace to the area, magnified by the murmur of a stream beyond the fluted columns and the quiet whisper of leaves stirring in a gentle breeze. It had yet to occur to the mare to look up, for the skies above were overcast yet from an early morning shower. But that didn't dampen her delight as she turned back toward the one she knew would have followed her.
