Darkness had fallen over the World's Edge and while most of its inhabitants were drifting off into dreamland there were a select few who were not. Among them was the newly appointed Captain of the World's Edge and her loyal companion. Owls hooted, crickets chirped, in the distance wolves howled as they stalked and hunted. It all came together as a symphony, rising and falling then rising again. The Constrictor's tail twitched as she looked in the direction the wolf's song was coming from. It was not only intruders of the equine, unicorn, or pegasi sort that they were on the lookout for. Feline and canine were able to come and go more freely than their hooved counterparts and that made them particularly dangerous. A dozing horse was an easy target no matter the size.

Fallen leaves and twigs crunched and snapped under Ktulu's hooves as she walked toward the crumbling glass wall. Under the moonlight it gleamed brilliantly, though it was shattered to the point of being very nearly useless. Had it been whole she and Archibald could have stationed guards at the entrances, but it was not so and until it was they would have to patrol the length of it. There had been many a night when she had been the Chieftess of the Foothills that she had patrolled her border during the night. She had turned away hunting wolf and cat during her night patrols and the occasional newcomer.

"Go find Cheveyo." Ktulu murmured to the bear that had been at her side. "Make it urgent, its time to work." Eytan huffed then turned and scurried off into the darkness, intent on finding the painted mare and bringing her to his bonded. Now that the Captains had been decided, Sergeants chosen, and warriors picked, playtime was over. The hard work began and it didn't end just because the sun had gone to bed. The job of a warrior was never ending and if they couldn't take a midnight patrol then she didn't want them.
