The half-child was growing stronger each day, rising to the challenges that life had faced him with, growing braver in his explorations of the world. He was curious, inquisitive, an academic stuck in a child's body. There was so much to learn, to know, to understand. How could he ever take it all in? Would there ever be enough hours in the day or days in the week? The child, though only several months old, felt like an entire lifetime had passed him by already. How many moments had he wasted when he could have been thinking, cataloging, categorizing... Time was endless but the child was determined to make the most of what he had.

Today, as with many other days, was spent noticing the minute differences between the flora of the falls. Today he chose the mosses growing on the rocks to inspect and differentiate. Colors- some red, some green. Smell- most earthy, but some danker. Taste... no, better not. But looks, texture, how and where they grew, whether they seemed moist or dry. All of it was interesting to the half-child, or at least it was, until his eyes would inevitably wander back to the softly glowing yellow orb that had been gifted to him by the strange CARPENTER several days past. He had stared at it for days on end, and yet it never seemed to make more sense to him. Why had he, the inadequate he, been gifted with this stunning gift from the gods? And, along those lines, what exactly did this gift do? He had spoken to it, hummed to it, told it stories, rolled it along the ground, let it rest in both the light and the shadow, got it wet, kept it dry... nothing seemed to change it. It was a stoic masterpiece, retaining its integrity despite the half-child's desperate tries to open the Pandora's box of mystery.

But whatever mystery he might be able to pry from it today would have to wait. His ears heard the woods crackling with motion and he turned just in time to see Athena move away. As he always did with either of his sisters, the curious Adelric needed to know where she was off to. Gathering up his orb in the moss sling he had made for it, he traveled after her. He had tried to keep the orb hidden and secret in order to prevent her from being upset that he had won their game of chase across the moat, but he felt in his heart that he couldn't just leave it behind. For a moment, he half-halted, considering leaving it behind so that she might not be upset by its presence, but it was no question. The CARPENTER had demanded he watch it with his life, and so he would, by some odd sense of responsibility to a man he had met once and never seen again.

Following after his sister, hopefully (though not likely) at a discrete distance, the half-child is bombarded by new sensations. Cold, white stuff on his hooves; glittering, hard vines hanging down from rocks (icicles, as he will come to find out eventually); a chill in the wind that he has never felt before. He is overwhelmed with sensations and he almost freezes in place out of over-stimulation when a voice catches his attention. Hello-hello-ello... The voice is oddly hollow and yet... “Er-uh-ro!” With his mouthful of moss, he chases after his step-sister, caught between his excitement to see his friend, a desire to not seem too excited so that he doesn't come off as that over-attached weirdo, and a wish to let Athena take the lead so that she will feel superior to him and therefore like him.

Digging out a patch of snow, since it didn't seem like his glowing orb liked the shadows too much when he was doing his experiments, he sets it on its bed of moss on the ground and then smiles stupidly at Erebos. “Is this your home?!” Of course he has a million other questions too, but he tries to keep them at bay for now, trying to restrain himself, prevent himself from overwhelming his long-lost friend entirely. It is hard for him, though, because the night phoenix is the epitome of wholeness and someday... someday the half-child hopes that he too can be whole. In fact, so enamored he is with his refound friend, he does not even notice that his yellow orb has begun to, just ever so mildly (barely the whisper of a movement), begun to shift on its own.

OOC| OMG, I'm so sorry for rambling, he wouldn't shutup.
