Leather wings beat upon the still air, larger than those of his White's. The silver steed lifted the head higher and looked around, smiling as the figure of a horse became visible in the gilded afternoon light. He watched her land, eyes trailing fondly the supple grace with which she landed into the pond and made fish and flitting dragonflies scatter. Fajira hissed in annoyance at first as her toys disappeared, but a second later she had let off a warbling trill in return of the dragoness' greeting and launched herself into the air, water droplets spraying high as she swooped over to greet the amber-skinned lass.

"Amaris" the stallion returned, equal warmth resounding in his voice as he looked over the young mare. Long, dark legs brought him over towards her and with an elegant arch to the neck he reached out to press the nose against her in tender greeting. "You look well child, and how you've grown! If it weren't for your companions I would never have recognized you earlier."

He grinned at the spirits that accompanied her, watching in amusement as his own White had taken to chase them around through the air in maddened glee.

"How long have you been back?" It felt like years since he had stood by the side of the DragonHeart and heard her introduce her daughters, seen the twins appear from the mist-veiled forest and realized that times had gone by without him. It had happened once more now; there was very little left to remind him of the spindly-legged child Amaris had been back then, nothing more than a slight lankiness of her built and the youthful gleam in her eyes. Rather than a foal he was now faced with a young mare, so beautiful that it made his heart race and similar enough to her mother that it made a pang of longing all but rend him apart on the inside.

His smile took on a bittersweet tint and it was with some difficulty he pulled back, forcing himself to remember that this indeed wasn't Mirage; it was her daughter, and no amount of similarity would justify growing too attached to the girl.
