Ah, he remembered all too well what it was like to be young. It was many years since his youth had been as vibrant and radiant as Amaris' but the sensation of being lost, confused and half was still fresh in memory. Gilded eyes softened in compassion as he watched her spill her hearts fears and worries before him, and once again a dark nose reached out to press against her skin, this time attempting to rest against her creamy cheek where he could breathe huffs of warm air and wipe the tears should they threaten to spill from her eyes.

"I know this probably isn't what you want to hear, tiny, but we all feel this way at a certain point in life. It is a part of growing up, leaving the nest and exploring the world and ourselves. It will take time - how long I cannot say, it depends on yourself - but one day you will wake up and know who this lovely young lady is. Until then..."

He paused for a moment and leaned back into the grass, gaze trailing thoughtfully from the girl and up towards the darkening sky where the last traces of light had dyed the clouds purple and green and the first stars were slowly lighting one by one. A pale shadow flitted across the darkening expanse on leather wings, gradually growing into the shape of Fajira as she circled down to land between them. Cooing and warbling soft melodies she padded soundlessly through the grass, affectionately stroking against both of the equines before clambering onto the half-dragon lass to settle in; she knew what they were talking about of course, but chose to leave the talking to Lace - it was easier, and he was altogether more gentle with tender teenage hearts than the brutally honest dragon.

"Did your parents ever tell you about Isilme?" the grullo eventually asked, on the subject of being liked by strangers and fitting in. He glanced at her, willing to wait until he knew what she had been told before he continued; quietly hoping that his lectures weren't growing tedious for her.
