Beauty may be skin deep
But cruelty runs clear to the bone.

The bird is in no mood for conversation today, but just as her scarlet legs collide with the ground, a stream of curses threatens to slip past her lips. The warrior has become disheartened from her encounter with the flaming God, and she simply refuses to admit that the God's negligence was all her own doing. The realization is slowly beginning to dawn upon the colorful mare, yet she cannot help but to succumb to her raging temper. Quivering ears snap back against a blue skull as a fiery gaze rakes across the shrouded forest, searching for someone to blame for her failure. The Aztec spies a dappled figure past the waterfall and, bursting through the refreshing stream, she is shocked to find the stag that she battled nearly a fortnight ago. Just what is he doing here?

The volatile bird is just about to confront the unicorn when an orange blaze appears in the corner of her eye. She turns to see what this new intrusion is, and a surprised snort bursts from her naves when she realizes that it is a bird. And of course it is not alone; the roasting chicken -- oh how she has begun to loathe things that are on fire -- is resting on a painted man's back. It would appear that magic is not the only oddity to be found in this godforsaken place. The mare's silent criticism reflects her raging mood.

Far too stunned -- and much too familiar with her own outbursts -- to make her exasperation known, the maiden chooses to remain silent. If something important is to come of this little gathering, then surely the two unfamiliar brutes will enlighten her.
