illynx,
The one that approaches her is not one of her scar laden soldiers or even a true adult, but the spotted figure of a girl that had grown up in the safety of the mountains and become quite the pretty sight as many of the women in the Basin were and had come to be under the watchful eyes of the golden wench. She wasn’t really sure from where the child had come, having arrived shortly after her birth from an excursion in the wilds, but she had enjoyed watching her grow with the others none the less, feeling in her selfish heart that, in ways, Frost Fyre and the other children of that year were hers because of the fact that she had known them when they were small and full of starlight, before they had grown into whatever they were now.

Most of the kids had wandered out as adventure called them, and while the girl had seemed to vanish for a time, she was back – and that was all that mattered to the Lady. The shyness with which she carries herself as she approaches is almost endearing, though Illynx was never as without confidence as this, even in her most untrained years; not all can be hardened as she, however, and she almost instantly forgives the display of weakness as the girl speaks and announces her reasons for approaching.

Nodding smoothly, a smile blooming on her lips, the Lady braces her own figure, her golden legs spreading for support and her limber body flexing for maximum speed. She assumes this is one of the first situations of combat that Frost has found herself in, and adjusts her strategies accordingly – opening with a much less aggressive stance and tactic than she might have against a more skilled opponent.

Driving to the right of the young mare at a swift canter, she pulls suddenly in towards the figure of the appaloosa and feints with her golden horn, a single parry seemingly aimed at the right side of the other unicorn nearest the dangerous tip – but at the last moment before the assumed impact, she pulls away, tucking her front end low as her hind quarters wrap around to send her hind legs kicking sharply out behind her. She hopes to strike somewhere in the middle of Frost’s height with her hind hooves, perhaps the shoulder or side, but the main point of it all was to begin the battle with one of her more useful tricks.

Others usually assumed a unicorn would depend on their horn – only to eat mouthfuls of flailing hooves.

Pulling away from the pivoting maneuver, she charges forward several paces to reduce the chance of counter assault, building electricity along her horn as she does so; her will pouring into the magic stifles the sounds and movements of the younger mare behind her, but her ragged ear is pulled back to give further focus to the location of the spotted damsel as Illynx collects the power along her weapon. Her words are slightly ragged as she breaths deep to keep her blood cooled and her focus strong on the pull of her magic, an explanation of her attack finding the air – this was a lesson, after all. ”Don’t depend on your horn as a weapon. Others surely will,” a breathless ring of laughter breaks the core of her words apart, ”use that to your advantage, instead.”

Darting back to the left suddenly, she pushes speed into her limbs as she loops around in a quarter circle, hoping to drive towards Frost’s face with blue sparks raining from the contained power along her prized horn. She unleashes the magic at the earth around the hooves of the girl, hoping to startle her and potentially drive her back or up onto her hind legs, where she will be more prone to the assault the Lady brings.

Without slowing her charge, she follows in behind the last of the bolts with her shoulder angled and her body braced for impact, hoping to shove into the crystalline horned young mare head on and upset her balance; in a flowing motion, she pulls her head back and up, gaining a better angle to aim the flat length of her horn in a smack along the upper shoulder or neck of the appaloosa unicorn, careful to avoid breaking the skin should she make contact and prepared to adjust the strike should Frost Fyre manage to parry in time.

Forgot to mention that this has the regular time constraints on spars unless Dark needs more time. :3 ]
