Oh, the poor, silly queen, standing outside of her tent with blue eyes misted over, looking down at a non-functional scorpion toy. All she had been doing was playing with it, sending it about the tent. It had seemed to move so slowly today, its clicking and whirring more insistent and grindy than it had been in the past. Still, she had played with it for the pure joy if it- she did love watching it click and whirr and travel about. As much as Ulrik had seemed to think that his mechanical creation was better than her pretty glass statue, she still hadn't found out a particular use for it. He had said it was good to send into small places, but then... what good was it to send a small creature into a small place if she couldn't later on knew what it knew.

Still, for all of its apparent uselessness, the queen found herself rather upset that her toy had broken- she was like a child that had lost her lollipop. She had entirely forgotten that Ulrik had said it would break and that she should return to him alone to get it fixed. Strange that he should have made such an ominous demand, but the painted queen was useless in such matters and, even if she had remembered him saying such things, would have trusted him to the Edges of Loorien and back. After all, even though he was a unicorn of the Basin, he was a crafter, and in her fragile heart she felt that the crafters all shared some sort of special bond. A love of their trade, perhaps.

So, picking the scorpion up by its cold, lifeless tail, and setting it in her glass basket, she began to make her way to towards the blue tent of the Aurora Basin- or, she at least assumed it was of the Aurora Basin. She had seen a variety of unicorns traipsing about the place; besides, blue just seemed to fit their icy herd. Setting her basket between her feet, giving one last sorrowful look to the basket carrying the broken scorpion, the queen whinnied out, her voice wavering, though for once not from fear. “Ul- Ulrik? Are you here?” His name she had learned from Illynx.

Shifting then, she lowered her nose to touch the little scorpion, to be sure it had not changed its mind and that it wasn't going to jump to life and trick her. But her touch did nothing, the machine just a cold hunk of shaped metal, and she sighed. She hoped upon hope that he would be able to fix it- and perhaps tell her what she had done wrong to break it.
