The forest was so quiet without the hustle and bustle of her herd, most of them having traveled to the island where safety and peace seemed to reign. The queen herself strongly desired to stand upon the island with them, but a sense of duty that hid in the back of her childish mind had sent her to the forest for the past few days. It was lucky she had been here, of course, having run into Aaron and then Murdock, but it was only for Kaj that she was here now. She wanted to please him, to steal some of the stress that she had previously placed upon him, and so guarded the forest with a lonely heart. It went against every part of her personality, especially as the beginnings of a storm began to form overhead.

She considered leaving, heading back to the glass wall and then cantering across the land so that she might return to the floating island, but as she stepped to head south a foreign mind invaded her own. The sensation was striking- something she had felt only once before when the Lady Moon had called her outside of the caves. But this was not the Lady Moon, of that she was certain. Still, the command from the voice did not seem like one she should ignore and so she walked north instead, the last few notes of her music box fading into eternity as thunder rumbled.

When she reached the edge of the forest, the queen stopped, blue eyes falling to the ground. The clearing- that open area between wood and cliff where blood had been shed and a life had been taken. She had taken the advice of her friends, her goddess, her king... but she had not yet returned to this place. But she was trying, for Kaj, not to let fear rule her heart, so she nestled her glass basket with her music box and scorpion beneath a tree. Let them rest there, she thought. Better they be safe, should this stranger caller turn out to be more suspicious than welcome.

Lightning flashed as she emerged from the forest, illuminating the scene before her. She stiffed at first, caught off guard by the massive beast that was resting himself upon one of her rocks, but a second look confirmed that this was not a predator that she would typically be wary of. It was an owl, of the most beautiful coloring of course, and with that the queen smiled, thoughts of dead snakes and traitorous Seers gone from her head. “Hello friend,” she called, and was about to bow to the majestic creature when the words of the Lady Moon echoed in her head, briefly. Queens do not bow. She lifted her head and stood tall.
