For a floating island this was all rather boring. The golden son had meet the feathered teenager, Aurelia, in his attempts to slip into the Throat, but the moment had been too flared, and crowded. So the golden would have to wait a little while longer before attempting to find her again. She was the ticket in though, that was sure. Still, it left him on this island without much of a care or to do list. So, the gold did what he did best, looked for trouble. It usually kept him from the tents towards the center, far too many…witnesses. So it carried him around and throughout the peace loving land. Meaning, he found no enjoyment. Without entertainment it would soon be time to leave this little floating land that seemed straight from Kahlua, the damsel’s mind.
That was until he heard a very curious sound. It sounded like a group of foals laughing, but not the cute little laughter but insulting blahs. Harks flicker back and forth and the gold approaches the base of a mountain where the curious noises sourced. Coming round the corner he sees Illynx disappear into the box, then several other behind her. None came out. Ears lean back. This is ridiculous, he had no desire to join another party, but his curiosity was getting the best of him. Stepping forward the golden timidly steps into the box.
The next full step became jumpy. He snorted with the strange sensation, but out can a “Blah.” Eyes widen. What the fuck. Head down, cloven hooves where normal but where the hell was the rest of his legs! The gold, or at least, the past gold was three feet closer to the ground! And he golden coat! Head turned sharp around, heart beating faster. It was gone, replaced by a sleek black coat. Oh no. Oh no. This can’t- BLAAAAAAH. It rings nearly right in his ear. Lips thin and for the first time the small black goat looks up. What meets him is around twenty other goats. The panic twists to laughter as he realizes what has happened to those who had entered this place. “Blaaah, blaaah, blah” Came the beating laughter. All eyes were on a small turtle, and for good reason, it spoke! What the hell had the golden, or black or whoever the hell he was, eaten this morning because it was surely some smoking weed or maybe some hallucinating gas floated up here. No wonder all the pegasi he’d met so far were crazy.
This was real though, and it wasn’t going away. The turtle called them to the starting line. It seemed the only way to escape this tiny, ugly, and UH smelly body was to follow his lead. He was the only one here who seemed to be what he was supposed to be…well he talked, but that was more normal than horses turning into goats! So a race it would be. Small horned head looked above the backs of others to see the rings ascending the mountain. Tiny black tail wiggles. He had been racing up the Basin mountains for all summer, this shouldn’t be too impossible. Determination settled on him, and he moved in with the rest of them.
And they’re off! Small jolty legs bounce him to the first of the rocks. Body may have gone to pot by some humor of a twisted creature, but he still had his mind. Small back legs bunched up then surged up. Body flailed at the power held in those hinds that sprung him forward. Surprise would have startled him from the rock, but cloven-padded hooves caught the rocks. A smile rose on that small face. The black creature leaps forward again, and though the rocks give he bounds forward, toward and through the first ring. Maybe this ugly, smelly, not-golden body could work.
