Venturing beyond the Edge had taken some control and courage on her part. Those were not enough, the strongest push behind the idea was her interest on what was beyond the mist. She was more prepared to encounter strangers, and with full strength, full use of her mind without fear she believed she was ready. She could not hide forever in the dark forest, pretending there was nothing beyond it. With the rising of the sun she slowly picked her way across the mountains, down, and around.


She let the child in her take over. She wandered, and gazed to her heart's desires. There was much to see, smell, and listen to. When she thought she had things figured out she was caught up in a place that spoke of winter with great mountains in it's grasp. She tried to choose which way to further explore, stay away from them or not. It was not hard to choose. The white landscape appealed the most; it was cold with no chance of flame, even if the dropping degrees may sting her nose. Cautious to where her hooves fell, steps were slow and timely. There was no ice yet (being noon now) so she continued to trod upon the frozen dirt and light snow with ease.

Often the red maned let her steel gaze rest upon the carved faces. There were lots of tall peaks, certainly they had to lead somewhere or guard another place where creatures would dwell. What kind she was not sure, she had never had been able to explore a winter wonderland.

Continuing to travel with thoughts scattered upon past, and present she did not try to focus them. There was too much, and she could too easily slip into old things she had risen above. Letting them hold her hostage again would not give her anything but anxiety, and fear. The crunch of flint, she started to hum under her breath, the wind starting to make the crimson of her fringe tangle across her dark pelt. The further the mare progressed, the mountains did not get much closer. The lonely plains stretched, revealing to her instead glaciers of the frozen land. She had not seen such ice, and pressed her pillars to carry her faster. Inspecting them closer, she saw tunnels, even arches of the glassy element. How strange, she mused, sticking her head into the glowing blue.
