Stony hooves thudded to the ground after connecting with their target. Before Sorcha could make another move, a loud whinny added into the fray. Then, suddenly, as if to add to her problems, the clearing got so bright that she could barely see. It astonished her, for it was one thing to fight something with full vision, but fighting something without sight was not in her repertoire. It was also then that she felt the beast's taloned paw slam into her right side. Breath was knocked from her lungs. The weight of the blow was ample, throwing her to the left hard. The mare's sturdy limbs had to scramble not to fall down. It's claws were not extremely sharp, but forceful enough to scrape the flesh on her upper side, sending peals of pain along the skin. The sensation only proved to further fuel her strong will to survive. She had no time to think of why the bear was attacking her; she knew little about the species in the first place. She had only time to act. Mustering all the courage she had left, Sorcha pivoted back into the opposite direction, lowered her head slightly, and charged back towards the bear head-on. Or at least towards the position it had been in when it had scraped her rear. The limited visibility didn't allow for her to see much of anything; she had to go on scent now. Hopefully she would frighten off the assailant, and if not, the six sharp horns that ran from her brow would give the creature a nasty wound. Her face was now more vulnerable to the foe, but the girl needed to do something fast to ward this thing off. The scent of stallion just met her nostrils as she threw herself toward the bear. She could not see where the stallion was, and had no way of knowing that he was headed for the bear from another direction. The mare who was just so confident before was now unable to be sure of anything. It seemed as though the world was trying to take her down. |
